Road Atlanta Update

#1

Well, I’m on my way to yet another hard fought race victory within NASA SE spec e30. You see, I’ve signed up for the Road Atlanta event and NO ONE else has submitted their entry (confirmed with Julie Pantas this a.m.) . Come on guys, it’s lonely down here in the southeast. Robert (your NASA SE spec e30,two time, hot shot racer dude, Champeen) Patton. (Truth be known I wither away when Mel or those MA guys show up for a race.)

I have to be in Raleigh by 2:00 pm on that Sunday and driving that far (about 6 hours) for one race day makes no sense at all…but I’m thinking hard about doing it anyway.

Road Atlanta is such a great track!

We are planning on being there.

My dad hasn’t decided if he will drive on Sunday yet, but I will be doing Saturday for sure, Sunday too if he doesn’t. I am looking forward to racing against a lot more cars than last year, so sign up and come on down!

Cool, I can race and lose to both Jim and Mel.With the Myers’ in attendance the MA racers can be assured of some good competition. Come on guys… Road Atlanta is one of the country’s premier tracks. Enough begging and pleading… Others??? See you there, Robert Patton

I would love to be there! Unfortunately… I have to take my daughter on a college tour trip that weekend…Vanderbilt, Emory, Sewanne…hey wait Isn’t Emory in Atlanta!

Actually in Atlanta tnite…on another trip…today was Davidson, Furman, Tommorow GTech and Saturday Georgia…definitely a southern theme here.

I’m kinda bummed about not getting out…not sure when my first event will be,

Robert:

I have to pass on Road Atlanta for two reasons.

  1. A family obligation on Sunday afternoon here in Raleigh.

  2. Pediatric medical expenses since December that are about the same as doing a season of Spec E30 racing. Everyone’s fine but the family budget has been hit pretty hard lately.

Road Atlanta is one of my favorite tracks so I’ll see you guy there again.

And I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at CMP.

I just signed up. Guys, if you sign up by midnight tonight you won’t have to pay a late fee.

Carter, you need to come down here to defend your lap record :silly:

Mel:

You don’t know how much I want to come down there this coming weekend…

I went to a 40th birthday party tonight and found out that about 5 BMW CCA friends are planning to race with NASA this season. Some will be racing in GTS with you guys.

And I’m hoping you’ll be at CMP. Any chance?

CMP doesn’t look good, even though it is somewhat close to where I live now. Dad and I still don’t have a tow vehicle since I sold my Yukon for the M5. Also, entry fee money is getting a little tight since our family is going to be expanding in June. :woohoo:

I think at this point, I will just have to plan on going to Road Atlanta again later in the year. Unless I can find a way to get the car to Kershaw, and not have to pay the entry fee.

I was hoping to split RA with my dad, but he has been very reluctant to race since he had the metal-to-metal contact last year. I think his plans are to do some lapping days first to get his confidence back up.

No doubt, my main goal would be to attend the Mid Ohio championship races, but this year might not be the year for that…

Mid Atlantic guys you’re missing a great opportunity to race at a premier track. All of the HPDE classes are closed and the race classes are getting full. If you can instruct there are also some openings. However the spec e30 field looks to be slim with Myers, Cullen and Patton being the only entrants… Others? Regards, Robert Patton
