As the subject line says… Who’s planning to be at Road Atlanta? Who’s going to be doing the Enduro? And who’s going to be want to go cry’n to their mommy after finishing behind me?:S
Road Atlanta: Smack/Roll Call

14 so far. No Damion? JP is scared, so he’s staying home where it’s comfortable. I assume Al and Travis will bring a farm animal of some sort. TJ Brewster, (anyone remember him?), might be there.
I am down for the sprint races, but definitely not the enduro. If anything, I may try for the test and tune Friday to make sure the car is ready to rock everyone’s world. The motor is in, some ancillary devices are on, trans goes on this weekend. I haven’t broken down the old motor yet, but the oil pan showed remnants of the dark silver oil in it… That couldn’t have been good. Looking forward to finally getting back on track (literally).
I’m sharpening my knives as I type.

Never bring a knife to a gun fight!
At this point I don’t think I am coming. The Mid ohio trip is costing a lot of money and Road Atlanta will put a strain on the budget, plus August in ATL is really really hot. Will decide by the end of the week but I am pretty sure I am not coming:(

Damion,
You don’t need to hide behind your financial excuses. Everyone knows you just don’t want to lose to me in my 2008 debut…
TJ, don’t forget to vacuum out the acorn shells from the intake before you fire that puppy up. Welcome back!
Also, everybody who is coming, you’ll want to grab updated schedules (Friday and weekend) from the NASA-SE website. The Yoko sippycuppers bailed on the event, and Jim has adjusted the schedule significantly.
TJ - I love it. Turn up the heat!!
I’m in for the enduro and weekend races.
Not a big Road Atlanta fan, if it wasn’t so close I’d probably skip. August in Atlanta in a parking lot is as appealing as it sounds.
The banging and thumping sound & the missed 3rd gear shifts appear to be related to a melted engine mount and the motor flopping around in the engine bay.

weak, RA is one of my favorite tracks…i love the place and wish it was closer to home…
RA in august can be brutal! (Barber in June was no picnic though)
Team Gritzer is back for the Enduro (my car this month). I’m in for the sprints too.
Rookies Rule!
I’m in (Enduro and Sprints) for my first race weekend at RA. This is a gesture of charity on my part to help bolster the self-esteem of those needing to beat someone.
Why is Travis doing T&T instead of racing Sat/Sun?
What’s the Friday/Saturday BBQue and party plan?

Travis is doing the T&T because he’s come to grips with the fact that his built motor still isn’t enough. So he’s going back to learn how to drive. That and he has a appointment with is mangina doctor.
I haven’t see the final draft of the weekends activities will more than likely include:
Friday night dinner at a Mexican place
Saturday will probably be… beer, BBQ, beer, beer and some yet to be devised stupidity.
IE - in their defense I didnt’ have the heat shield in place and they melted. But that laminated stud setup is just asking for problems - imho
I requested the BimmerWorld crew put their minds together on this one since I think we can do better in motor mount technology. They should have something out shortly I believe.
Mine started to do the same thing last year and I caught it in time and put the heat shield back in place.
I hope BW comes up with a better mount. I agree that the laminated stud design is a problem waiting to happen.
JP
PS - I’m not making RA, I’m too scarred of Geeger’s new cheater motor…
Have you guys looked at the AKG mount? It has just a single bolt all the way through.
Haven’t heard of one melting, and even if one does, the bolt will still be in place, which has to be worth something.

Is nitro fuel legal? I keep telling him it isn’t.
I think we’ve got some delrin hockey pucks coming at some point. Will be engine/trans combo like we allready do for the E36/46.
I heard Geiger’s new motor was making so much power they had to weld the mount arms directly to the subframe.
He is safety wiring the lug nuts so the wheels don’t torque off under load.
I"m not sure how the wheelie bars can be considered legal though?
