If that punt in Scott’s video was an intentional punt, I am absolutely not trying to defend that.

However, I am trying to figure out why you would take a defensive mid-track line between 5 & 6 when you have the leading (or very top) out-of-class cars coming through? The first miata got through, then you took a defensive line again between 6 & 7, slowing your already slower cornering speed compared to a Miata! I’m not saying the contact was justified by any means, impeding out-of-class cars involved in a battle tends to make them more aggressive (whether Miatas, E30s, SRFs, PT cars or whatever).

It’s always easy to Monday morning quarterback these things, but if you had no active in-class battle going on, why not just let them through to continue their battle?

What the video doesn’t show is me giving them all a point to the left. It’s also difficult to see that I was leaving them more than enough track to get around. It wasn’t a defensive line. I was giving them the outside of the track to work their way through so we could all stay focused on our own class races.

I don’t know if I would call it “intentional” but I do think it was more than avoidable.

When I talked to the driver, He made no comments on my line. He simple said I was in his way.

The first red flag on Saturday caused the whole field to bunch up…leading to the incident and second red flag…

It would have taken a lot longer for the lead Miata’s to catch us without the red, and who knows maybe by then they would have been spread out…
I hate I missed the event but what on earth did you guys do to piss off the Miata crowd. In checking out the videos, I’ve seen at least two bumps by Miata to rear which caused an off by the overtaken car!

I’m curious how does the SE region view that sort of contact. Neither incident seemed like it was an unavoidable racing incident. Hopefully no one/car was damaged this time.

In my incident, I only received a little bit of damage to my bumper. Nothing too bad.

In the Saturday incident, they were not so lucky. The Spec E30 and 944 are totaled as is an s2000 that came thru behind me. I’m not 100% sure what happened to the Miata, I saw it on track on Sunday but not for very long.

Gasman,

I wish you would have made it to the races last weekend. It would have help you realize that as much as you may dislike some SE30 drivers… there’s a whole other level of @sshole out there

Hope you’ll make it to Rockingham
Scott, The miata’s were out of control at the first CMP race this year. I’m willing to bet the guy that pinged you was the same guy that bounced off Scott Campbell at CMP in the first race this year. The guy is a lunatic and has no business on a race track. I watched him bounce off three cars coming through T5. I knew he would punt me after what I saw happen in the mirror so I just GTF out of his way.

Not planning to make Rockingham, I hate that track; but I am planning to do the next one, where ever that is.

Your explanation makes a lot of sense. I truly appreciate your calm response to my mistaken view of the tape.

That’s complete asshattery on his part. There’s no excuse for being a d-bag on AND off the track!

Steve D.

PS - Maybe we need a small change to SpecE30turbo so the Miata/E30 lap times aren’t so close together.:woohoo:

That’s right Steve. You should get back on the track with us because there’s lots more assholes then you think. Uh, no wait. I mean…

The Miatas were maniacs on Saturday. Yes there were mitigating factors…We got bunched by the restart and I’m slow. But they were flat-ass too aggressive. I was surprised that they got off lightly at the Sunday driver’s meeting.

Subject change. I have a write-up for Saturday’s race at www.gress.org Click on Racing & Performance Driving then find the story dated last weekend.

We’ll see you at Da Rock if your man enough to come take on the high banks!!!

Which one is coming with you? Ashley or Lea???

Please give me a heads up, cause I’m old and would hate to throw out the wrong name and damage your evening plans for the weekend!
I’ll be there. Ashley is coming. :cheer:
So, no more Lea? What happened to her? I thought she was building a Spec E30 car to race with us?

Maybe she can join Team Rowdy Dog Racing!!!

Sounds intentional to me…

I don’t understand something here. Isn’t there some form of report / protest that should be logged? 13/13/ maybe? Attitudes like that guy has are not only expensive, they could kill someone.

It’s in the officials hands. It’s hard to be too upset. My lap times after the spin were almost 2 seconds faster than what I was running before.

My question is, what is young Mikie doing answering and rep’ing for fair Lea? Maybe we have some interesting “couples” enduro teams forming up?

M3bill, did the old guy get tossed overboard for the younger, faster red head???

Payton Place! If you too young to understand, think OC without bikinis.

2 seconds!!! That sounds like an inexpensive way to pick up some serious time, too bad you lost a position…Last year at RR, when I bumped that Miata that was swerving all over the track, I am willing to bet his fastest laps of the weekend were right after that!
