RAAW Motorsports had a fantastic weekend! Aaron is getting stronger and stronger running his DE4 sessions. Runs consistent 1:48’s with minimal traffic and is getting very comfortable with that minimal traffic. He has an entire new world coming to him after comp school in December. He is really looking forward to racing with all of us and I am looking forward to running with him competitively. I have really envied Julio and Eric over the last couple years as it is pretty cool to watch the father and son team. Melissa did her first solo this weekend and did a great job. She will be moving to DE2 during her next event.
As for me, what can I say. Could not have scripted it any better. I am feeling much more comfortable each time I get on track. The car ran VERY strong with the help of a newly built motor that I put in after the last road Atlanta event. The competition was super tough all weekend. Congrats to Julio for the Saturday victory and the close racing on Sunday. I had a blast running with him. I really need to figure out how to get to turn three first at the start of these races!
Sunday was an incredible race. Julio had me from the beginning but I was able to pass him into one a few laps into the race. He nearly got me back at 6 but fortunate for me, the caution came out and he had to back off. The restart went pretty good with the exception of Lako blowing by me in the start. I was caught between flags and when I finally saw the green flag, Lako had already blasted by me like I was sitting still. Sorry for the people directly behind me. Coming into 6 on the same lap, I was pushed off by a TR that stumbled a little. Nearly the end of my day and the end of my car. I was lucky enough to keep it on the track, but lost several positions. I was able to catch back up to the leaders after the second caution flag. Really happy that Robert is OK as he took a VERY hard hit in 10a. After the restart, Julio, Sandro and Lako battled REALLY hard which allowed me to catch them. Thrilled I was able to win a race but with the situation in 10a, made it difficult to celebrate.
Thanks to Julio, Sandro, and a few others for figuring out my “FUEL” issue coming down the hill in 5th gear. I had no clue it was a limiter. I have found a 173 ECU and it is on the way.
Sorry to Greg Smith for not completely solving your water in oil situation. We all worked very hard until late on Friday night to change a head only to see you struggle with it on Saturday. Wish the results would have been better.
I posted Sunday’s video but have no video from Saturday’s race. I forgot to turn the GoPro off from qualifying so it was dead come race time.
For a brief moment, I thought I might head up to Watkins Glen, but after looking at 13+ hours of driving I decided to not go. Maybe next year.
For those of you that are doing VIR, I will see you then!
Oh, forgot one person. Thank you to Eric for not showing up this weekend!
