Road Atlanta 9/14-9/15 Biggest field EVER

#1

At a Spec e30 meeting last night we talked about hosting the BIGGEST field ever of Spec e30 cars.

I think the SE previously held the number with a race at CMP or RR, but we were out “fielded” by the Nor Cal guys with a field of 27(?).

Regardless, Pantas sez that if we can get over 25 he will group us with 944 and GTS and start them in back so that we have noone to worry about racing through.

Can we get over 25?
Mid Atlantic guys need to come down to join us in a MA/SE challenge. We will be up there in October…it is only correct.

Interest?

Discuss…

Who is in?

Where is Damion?

Where are Robinson and Geiger?

Where is Kelly?

A surprise visit by Carter?

Where is Waldo ?

I’m in

The Fire Engine will be there!

#3

Taylor, Switzer, Kritter, Gress?

Moberg, Leavy, Whittinger,

Taylor, Skeen, Wilson

#4

I think the guys on the other coast got 37 to Laguna Seca recently. Our biggest field ever was 30? cars at an IFU event at CMP in 2008?

I’m in for RA. We definitely need to talk this up to the MidAtl guys.

Kelly’s moving to TX.

Lako, Walsh ?

Scott, let’s check the records, to be truthful 37 is doable. (As I sit here and think about all that have raced with us…)

I’d pay admission to watch a Palacio, Skeen, Grace, James Clay, Seth Thomas,
(choose your team “ringer” here) race.

RP

Where is Cobetto?

#6

I’ll hopefully be there!!

37 Spec E30’s around RA :woohoo: we should at least keep the tow truck driver busy…

#7

Count Whitinger and Andrews in!

#8

Already signed up. How about some Florida boys and girls?

#9

The Florida boys and girls had a post about it last week. There are definitely some coming. I don’t have the funds currently, or I would be there.

#10

Chris, thank you.

The Palacio’s have the assignment to bring the Mid-Alantic folks down to race.

Lako, have you installed the new head yet?

I will be in CA at my cousin’s wedding, otherwise I would be there…still planning for RA in December.

Any rentals available?

Do you guys think you’ll have the multitude of crashes that we had at our big west coast event just recently? Part of me thinks that putting that many “equal” cars on the track at the same time is just going to lend itself to crashes.

Contact Drive-Gear for rentals.

There’s lots of reasons for crashes. Similar cars isn’t one of them. Similar cars just makes for good “driver oriented” racing.

I played the Laguna Seca videos many times to try to understand what the heck happened, but I didn’t make any editorial comments. I wasn’t there, don’t know the drivers, don’t know the tone of the community, and a couple videos doesn’t give a person an unassailable grip on Truth. I figured it would be best to keep my mouth shut.

Heck, I regretted being such a loudmouth re. the Summit crash here on the E. Coast.

You CA guys didn’t do much analyzing of the crash here in the forums. Hopefully you did that analyzing elsewhere tho. Driver’s who are over-aggressive, and/or have inadequate situation awareness, and/or just make bad decisions, need to receive serious correction. It’s up to your S Cal/NorCal community and your regional directors to apply that correction. If unacceptable behavior isn’t punished in some way, you encourage it. Don’t let it go. Discuss it, reach conclusions, learn from it. Use it as a future teaching point.

Decided to instruct the Peachtree event the week before so looks like I’m out.

#15

Great idea, but too late, my schedule and time away from family is budgeted and scheduled in December for the next season. I would love to come but cant rearrange work/kids etc this late…maybe next year if nationals are at miller again.

#16

How many SE30s are signed up? Is there an unofficial drivers list?

#17

No unofficial list. The official list is at http://www.nasa-se.com/weblist.php?eventid=2013%20Fall%20Fling

I think you can expect 20 locals + those that show up from out of region.

#18

TPR will be there.
