Road Atlanta 16-17 June 2012

#1

I just signed up and I’m looking forward to racing with the SE gang again! We are moving to Savannah this summer and planning to stop by Road Atlanta on the move down…

Fishman, great to have you back in our neck of the woods! Johan, you were away a few as well. Welcome back.

I glanced at the season points this morning, and we’ve had 29 different drivers participate so far in the first four events. That’s pretty broad participation, but this event will be even better with a few more folks. Some of our regulars haven’t signed up, but I hope we see Ranger, Kelly, Damion, Sumpter, Evan, Al, Jim Levie, Jason, and some of you other guys.

I see a couple new faces as well. Glad to have you with us! We’ll do introductions when we get together Saturday morning.

Any chance the Panther will be put back together by then? Maybe if Pissant does the work, I think Jim is preoccupied with his new aircraft!

I expect Robert, Laura and myself will be there, but otherwise here is the current roster:

I’m planning to be there

#5

Watch yourself man. I’m planning on storming into the top 15. Openin’ a can o’ whoopass ol’ Ranger is.

#6

Now we’re getting into the SE smackzone! Bring it on dudes

#7

Don’t think Kelly is going to join us - he got pretty banged up in a dirtbike accident (banged up as in seriously broken leg - as I understand it). I told him he we still expect him back ASAP.

#8

I will miss this one. Family event forces have conspired against me, but in the words of the Gubernator, "I’ll be back."
And my can is lots bigger than Ranger’s.

#9

I was at RA today with Chin and met this Espinosa guy that is signed up for RA. He went by me on the back stretch like I was [strike]Giles [/strike]standing still. RA will be his first race. Is unexpected for a newby to come out of nowhere, but that makes it all the more excellent. Be sure to make him feel welcome when you meet him in the paddock, see how many beers he can drink before the typical SpecE30 paddock antics require debrading and bandages. Maybe someone can bring a possum. Or chickens.

#10

Maybe he has a 4.10. New guys do stuff like that.

Is anyone doing the enduro? Willing to dump a couple jugs of gas in my Miata during a pit stop? I’d gladly pay you in beer or other black market currency. I plan to Ironman the 3 hour race.

#11

Looks like I will miss Saturday, at a minimum. Maybe I can get out and do the one day thing on Sunday. My work schedule sucks.

I should be there on Friday and will gladly help!

#13

Thanks Fish. I’ll see you Friday.

I’ll be there too. If I read the schedule correctly the instructor clinic stuff will be over so I can crew along with Fish. I’m great at holding a fire bottle…

#15

I’ll be doing HPDE3. Is there enough room to park with the Spec E30 racers or would I be better off on the designated HPDE area?

Andy

#16

You’ll be better off with the SE30 racers. It’s a bit of a PITA to drive around to grid on the other side, but well worth it to be able to get to know the guys who have been doing this for a while.

#17

Fred, it would be an honor to be your first student.

That’s a no brainer. Almost all of the fun at a race weekend is in our paddock area catching up with buddies, drinking their beer, telling lies and laughing at the misadventure stories. If I had to park out somewhere with a bunch of strangers I don’t know that I’d bother coming.

#19

Excellent! I’ll see you all on Friday afternoon. I won’t be there in time to put gas in Steve’s car unfortunately.

#20

I’ll be there friday afternoon as well and plan on parking in the spec e30 area even though i’m doing HPDE. See everyone next weekend.

Cheers,
Craig
