After Nationals and getting dyno’d at my highest reading ever, it occured to me how amazingly reliable and strong my car has been. The car was built over the winter of 2006-2007, it had 145000 miles on it when I bought it. Since then I have done 51 races, 1 3 hour enduro and 1 DE over 5 years. In 2007 it dyno’d at 150/150, in 2008 with an adjustable FPR it dyno’d at 154/150, in 2011 it dyno’d at 156/150. The motor and diff have never been opened (the motor has had 1 valve adjustment since I’ve owned the car). It is on its 2nd clutch but the transmission is original. The car has never had a mechanical DNF. I’ve had a few problems in practice (Coil coming lose, throttle sticking), but it has never let me down in a race. I guess I’m the anti Ranger, am I the only who is this lucky with power and reliability?
Reliability
“in 2008 with an adjustable FPR it dyno’d at 154/150, in 2011 it dyno’d at 156/150.”
Please tell me what I’m missing here? Clarification on the “adjustable FPR”
Adjustable fuel pressure regulators were allowed in 2008 and then banned in 2009 or 2010.
I’m still running the original un-opened engine in my car. I have no idea how many miles it has on it. The diff and tranny are original as well, hell I have never even replaced the clutch. I’ve done a couple valve adjustments and I think 2 timing belts. The only on track failure I have ever had was a dead DME.
The only time I’ve had the car on a dyno it pulled 157/153. Feels a bit down on power right now but I haven’t tuned it up in probably 4 years. So no you are not alone!!
We both just jinxed ourselves though, so knock on wood and start putting money into a rebuild fund!!
Very impressive…but you realise its all going to start crumbling now you have made this amazing run of reliability public!
