Reality TV show idea.

#1

I want to start putting together a pilot TV show based around our race series and (NASA in general) and the antics that come along with it. If ya’ll can help me with some ideas and some in-car and paddock footage then I’ll start editing something together. I plan to do lots of filming at RRR so if you have ideas write them down and lets work on it. Do ya’ll think it could fly?

I’m sure it won’t be as entertaining as the quality programing provided by Speed! I mean, how can anything touch great shows like; Pinks! or Monster trucks every dinner hour, or do you really thing it would be as good as the rare NASCAR footage we see on the weekends???

But I’m game. Is this going to be slotted for the "after 9pm" showing? If not, you may need to stay away from the "Beertech/MaltTech" tent at the far end of the track! I hear some pretty strange sounds from down that way late at night. A screaming possum, I swear I heard it’s cry!

If I remember things correctly… I may have video of golf carts doing burn outs from RA.

#4

NOW, that’s entertainment!!!

I believe the official Malt Liquor Tech pit bike was involved as well.

As piloted by a BeerTech circus bear!

I spoke with Tim Suddard of Grassroots Motorsports magazine about this idea. He said that it’s tough to pitch a reality show.

We do have some real personalities however and I think it’s worth a try. The reality shows that work seem to be more about the "soap opra" aspect than the actual event but give it a shot.

No doubt it will be a tough sell, which is why I’d like to have a 30 minute pilot all put together, then its a matter of getting some honcho to watch it - and of coarse making it good enough to watch. The soap opera aspect is an unfortunate neccessity (sp?) but I am sure we can come up with some drama. Its worth messing around with I think.

Carter is right. It would be a tough sell.

One thing that might add some interest is to have some footage of some of the drivers lives away from the track. Show the contast between the different lives we all lead. What goes into getting a car ready.

Al working on his car on the farm then towing it with his Volvo.

Gasman picking his car up at the shop and towing it with his Denali.

But when we get on the track… we are all basically the same.

Only some are faster than others.

#11

I think Al on the farm may be a show unto itself…

#12

Are you saying I would be faster if I towed it with a Volvo?

Gasman wrote:

Not at all. But towing with the Volvo could be the cause of all of Al’s spins

BTW: I reviewed the video from RA… and it’s JP on the MLT Pit Bike vs. a Dodge truck. Red neck burn out!

I hope there are no animals on Al’s farm. We already have a big enough scandal with Vick and dogs. Imagine what Al does with his animals:blink:

Pit bulls in Al’s trunk? I’ll call PETA.

I figured it would be the other way around… Al’s trunk in Pit Bulls.

Maybe it was a sheep? I can’t remember

I think I ran over Al’s sheep?

The more I think about it… I don’t know if it’s a good idea to have cameras documenting our late night paddock activities.

The cameras are for reliving all the stuff you can’t remember after Saturday night.

For sure, Al could have his own show!

For Spec E30, Scott is correct. The racing would have to be a small portion of the show and focusing on the lives of racers preparing for, and traveling to the track, would appeal to more people, even on Speed Channel.

On the way to Summit last weekend, I had a trailer flat. Carlton was a few miles ahead so I told him to stop at the next exit. About 5 minutes later, he called to tell me he had a trailer flat.

While watching Carlton and me change our respective flat tires would get very boring, very quickly, this is the kind of thing that adds twist. Plus, we’d have to have some screaming and other drama in the paddock. Think about that silly show about the father and son who build choppers…

And if anyone has ever changed a flat on the side of the interstate, he will understand the new "Move Over" laws.

Do you think they’d like to see footage from the night before when you and Carlton quietly sabatoged each others’ trailer tires? :woohoo:

Can I punch Sean on camera next time he beats me in a race? :stuck_out_tongue:
