Racing GTS or PT

#1

Nationals appears to be making it easy for folks to race in a 2nd class like GTS or PT. What would the logical 2nd class be for a SpecE30 and what mods would I have to, or be smart to do, if racing in that class?

Like maybe I could put on a fartcan and race HC?

You can probably finish mid pack in GTS1, you would have to add weight most likely (depends on your hp) and if you want to be somewhat competitive you should run 225 Hoosiers or similiar tire. I have no idea about the PT classes.

I ran through the PT classing spreadsheet and came up with PTD for my car.

Like most cross-class adventures, our cars won’t be competitive without pretty significant changes. I’ll be running PTD simply for the additional track time, not to be competitive in that class. Same setup, same tires, etc. I ran Spec Miata with RA1s and PTE with Hoosiers (I had available points, so why not?) but found that switching the setup on the car was more than my brain could keep track of.

Tower was going to run GTS at Nationals but decided not to since his dyno sheet would put him in GTS3. He didn’t want to tip his hand…

damn, steve is on to my plans. the truth is that i’ve been sandbagging by short shifting and misadjusting my throttle cable, thus making it appear that i was being outmotored on the straights of vir and road atlanta. but i’ve also taken it beyond such simple machinations by “accidentally” getting stuck behind a slower car or running off the track every now and then so as to give my opponents an advantage.

Smart man. VERY smart. But actually I think Jason’s car would be in GTS-4! :silly:
