Any race stories?

Congratulations to David Walsh for the win in Saturday’s double points race.

His first place finish earned David second place in the regional points race to his Group #3 race buddy, Steve Lako.

Congratulations to the Group 3 (or is it 2 without Dimengez) teammates for an outstanding year.

Other stories?

Definition of an epiphany:
Wanting to blame old tires for your lack of performance than realizing you got faster after every session.

Incredible weekend! Congrats to all the winners and champs.
Now that I am starting to get a grasp how these inverted toilets like to be driven, I will hopefully soon be able to cash those checks my mouth has been writing.

Oh, and no disrespect to the E30 marquee with the above “inverted toilet” comment. I think they look quite sporty, mine in particular.

At least they don’t have a torsion bar rear suspension from the factory. Looking forward to some stories and videos.

Welcome to new racers Paul Patrick and Jared Stoop.

Paul completed his rookie races and Jared comes in from racing GTS5 in a Porshe Cup car. His comment: a Spec e30 car cost the same as it takes to run a Cup car weekend. It was his first e30 race and he will be giving those up front someone new to race.

Congrats to Group 2/3 on the championship and win on Saturday. I picked the wrong lane in traffic and couldn’t recover to David and Sandro in the shorten race, exciting close racing though.

Overall great weekend with a win in E3 for the 8 hour enduro (thanks to Steve D for loaning out the miata), 3rd on Saturday and 1st in the Sunday Inverted Fun run.

Eric, I was going to talk about the Geno’s Cup, but you have it in hand. Who were the previous winners?

Congratulations to you for your accomplishments with two Geno’s years in a row (we’ll talk more about that later once you advise the previous winners.)

Great job to the SE specE30 field for a fun and clean race weekend. Congrats to Eric (Geno’s Cup), Robert taking 3rd and Walsh for a great race win to slip into second for the year. I wish the brake failure did not occur Saturday ending my race after the Red flag but had fun Sunday trying to learn how not to rely on ABS. Group3racing had a great year and look forward to many more. I want to thank Scott publically for all he does for our team and around the paddock and my family for putting up with this addiction. See you all at CMP!

You are heartily welcome.

Dang I had a great time. First off…I don’t think I have never completed the Dec event with the car intact. Never. A rod bearing sent me home at my first one. Molitor did me in at the 2nd one. Coolant loss killed the engine at the 3nd one. I can’t seem to remember the one after that, but I think this is the 5th one. And the car made it home intact.

It was a near run thing tho, lol.

No Saturday footage but the video from Sunday is helacious. 18 total action packed minutes of knife fighting. It was a blast. https://vimeo.com/54799437

Thanks, Ranger, that was fun to watch. Appreciated the color commentary.

For the record, I did GO, GO, GO!

It was a short weekend for the #47 car. Made 2 underpowered laps in practice before the car gave up. Strange, because the car was running great at VIR when we pulled it on the trailer.

I want to say a big Thank You to the entire Spece30 field for making my rookie season as good as it was. We will definitely be back next spring with a fresh engine.

Michael, the audience doesn’t know about the adventures of the e30/5.0.
How were the few DE laps that you did in the car?

Should I be looking for e30/5.0 conversion parts?

So after the spec car died I ran back to the shop and traded it for my street car. It is an 89 e30 w/ a 5.0 and 5 speed from a 93 Mustang, making about 300hp and 300 torques. http://forum.ih8mud.com/atlanta-custom-creations/467412-89-bmw-e30-5-0-swap.html

I ran 2 DE sessions in the car and it ran good for the most part. It looks like an e30 but when it was spinning the tires coming under the bridge it sure didn’t feel like one.

The conclusion is that it needs a larger radiator to run a track speeds and larger sway bars.

And NO you will have to build you own.

Thanks to all for a great season! Scott that video was awesome! and thanks for helping out with Stoops car. We will have John Clark sunning with us next year in a white 90 IS, he’ll go for his comp lic in Feb if everything goes well. I have another 2 buddies that want to join, so, if someone knows somebody selling his/her E30, we are on the market, really don’t want to build another one for now, trying to focus on getting a proper cage for mine and interior cleaned up!

Felt damn good to shake off two year’s worth of ring rust and get back to racin’ with you fine gentlemen and ladies. See y’all at CMP

It was great to meet many of you E30 guys on Sunday. I ran DE 3 and my son ran DE 1 with our E30’s. I was really looking forward to running with everyone until I watch this video!! Intense. Great run guys.

Congrats to Steve on his championship and to Group 2/3 for a 1-2 points finish! Also, special thanks to Scotty (aka MacGyver) for all his HELP and hospitality around the paddock. You sir are THE MAN!

TPR hasn’t decided yet whether to run another split SE/MA season in 2013, in any case we’re looking forward to racing with this great SE group.

Everyone have a safe and happy holiday season!
