Kelly you may want to have the crank shaft checked in that other engine (before you do something with it other than use it as a boat anchor) if something in the bottom end was out of balance it could have been the cause.

I was planning on taking the top end off, stripping the oil pan, and burning the rest…
Good to know you think it’s fixed. I know that had to be extremely frustrating last season.

Sign up for test day and DE4. It is one of my very favorite tracks, but there are lots of blind crests that - at least for me - took a lot of seat time to even figure out where I wanted to be on the track.

Thanks Steve. I’m thinking about doing the enduro - 3 hours of track time for $300, can’t really complain about that. Plus that should give me plenty of time to get at least somewhat up to speed without caring too much about my position.
You may want to wear a Depends for the first few thrilling trips under the bridge and down the big hill to the flagstand (and concrete walls)

These are the operative words of wisdom for a rookie regardless of which race you are in…If you keep the car on the track and off other cars, your finishing position will be quite respectable.

Fixed;)

Good plan. Do you use a Traqmate? If so, after you figure out where the track goes you can get some data from some of these other guys (my December data is a little skewed ) and get up to speed a lot quicker.
You could also check with one of the guys who are crewing for the enduro and see if they would take your car out there and lay down some data as your “codriver”. There’s no substitute for having a faster guy put down some laps in the same car on the same day. And a 3 hour enduro is a great test session!

Yep. I just got it a couple of months ago and used it for the first time at VIR. I have not actually loaded the results on my computer yet. Should be able to play around with it this weekend.
That would be nice. I have to figure out the schedule and see if I can make it there early enough on Friday, but that would certainly be better. Otherwise, 20 minutes of practice won’t help me very much.

Doesn’t look like we will have too many Miatas, but we run very similar lap times. They are significantly faster from T1 to T5 and we are faster from T7 to T10A.
If you have a Miata relatively close on your tail entering 1, watch for them to try to pass you somewhere between T2/3 and down through the esses. It is a good track to cooperate with other cars on. There aren’t many places where side by side works. There are lots of walls. Did I mention it’s one of my favorites? :woohoo:

Fortunately the Miata’s are pretty patient. They’ll wait a couple turns so you can get a chance to get them by safely.
And re. Turn 11-12 being scary. Just go slow. It’s only scary if you go fast.

Good point. I get new right side sheetmetal thanks to one of my co-drivers for the 6 hour enduro this past weekend. On his cool-down lap. In qualifying. Luckily it was just a Miata.

Dang. So where’s that video?
Now I know what it’s like being Schumacher… Everyone hates the winner. Robinson, the jealousy is getting obnoxious. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

You’ve seen it before. Here is again.
Boy, no matter how many times I see that video, it just cracks me up. A classic.
