Pocono North 5/31-6/1

Just a few weeks to go till the first race weekend of the NE season so it’s about time there was a thread about it. How many E30ers are planning on going, either to race or DE? Who’s on the fence that we can harass into going? So far I know of 4 cars, myself, Jon A., Andrew Z. and one other (don’t know who, just know someone else is racing), that will be there. Anyone else joining in?

#2

If I’m not there with my car (still in the shop) I’ll be there for moral support.
Jon A…Are you really going to be at an NE event?

#3

I will be there at least one day for moral support and bench racing, Oh yeah and to take some pics.

#4

Time’s tight but I’m planned to do at least one day DE

Cheers

John

Nice turn out so far.
The race group, is only at 3 cars as of now, Jadczak in the Fly Navy car, Zimmerman (might be Jon just driving Andrew’s car though, not sure, maybe one of them will chime in) and myself. If we get 6 cars total, we might be able to get to start the race together as opposed to mixed in with all the other cars.

So, only 3 more cars, where’s everyone hiding? Christian, Matt, you guys coming out to play? What about some of the northern MA guys that didn’t go to CMP? Nothing bad happens if you cross the Mason-Dixon, I promise

Sean - Mike and I are thinking about coming up. What is the track configuration for the race?
Ed

I have not run the north course yet but This is what I think it is

NORTH ROAD COURSE
A 1.5 mile course utilizing Pocono’s north infield road course and turn 3 of the tri-oval. The course has nine turns and 2 straights, the longest being approximately 1,700’. The course varies in width from 30’ to 60’

You can check on the link here http://www.poconoraceway.com/track_trackrental.asp

Ed, that’d be awesome if you guys came up. Dan got the track description right and there is a little track map on the page he linked to. It’s a pretty short track, but the most fun out of the different layouts. The others are either too tight or you spend too much time on the NASCAR track at full throttle. This is my onboard from last year to give you a better look at the track, try to ignore the crappy youtube compression and the vibrations from an off balance wheel http://youtube.com/watch?v=ax3qFn8S-fE

Jon and I are coming, we are going to share the car for the weekend. I will drive Saturday and he will drive it on Sunday. Debuting the new 87! Hopefully…

#10

I’m looking forward to running a new track. Sean we will have to try and pit next to you.

#11

I just signed up and my dad will be signing up tomorrow.

How many people are we gonna have in SPEC E30. I’m looking forward to seeing some new faces.

Awesome, we’ve got 5 total now, more than double the previous entry record  It’s going to be a lot of fun having some E30s on the track to play with, can’t wait. It’s been 2 months since VIR and I’m getting antsy.

Paddock space can be a PITA at Pocono, it fills up real quick. I’ll try to get some space somewhere early so everyone can be in the same area if they want, don’t know how easily that will happen though.

Oh yeah, just found out last night that there is going to be a dyno there too if anyone is interested in that.

#13

I have never been to pocono as just a spectator, Can I still just drive in to the paddock? I don’t remember anyone checking at the gate for registration, just had to sign the waiver.

#14

Dan, you should be fine. If for some reason someone says something, just tell them you’re crewing for someone.

#15

Johhny where are you at man? This is short drive you.

We need to get some MA guys to come up there.

Definitely. Even though there’s going to be more out of region racers than NE racers, the more the better.
Where are the NE racers hiding out at? Registration is going to close soon (already 60+ cars signed up to race) so don’t wait too long if you are on the fence.

Sean - Any recommendations for cheap, decent, near-the-track hotels?

Thanks,
Ed

Ed- I usually stay at the Best Western in Blakeslee, it’s right off the exit for the track and has trailer parking with a police station right next door. I think I have stayed at the Blakeslee Inn as well, there are a bunch of places listed here http://www.poconoraceway.com/areainfo.asp and also a few others mentioned here http://nasaforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=20232 There is another place that I don’t think is listed on either of those sites that is real close to the track and is pretty much just simple rooms, either Andrew or Jon told me about it so maybe one of them will mention it, I can’t remember the name. Hope that helps.

Thanks Sean - I’ll check those out tomorrow.

Not sure what we are doing yet. Jon’s lake house isnt too far away but it might be Murphys loft for me, cheap and close and a bar!
