Scott and Evan, I am not sure what the disagreement is about. This has happened before on the SE’s board and the parties involved worked to resolve their differences.
Regardless, there will be “no balling up of four cars going into turn one.”
Scott, finish the car and you’re welcome to race with us. Leave the recklessness (is that a word) at home.
After all the build questions you asked and genuinely helpful responses you received, I am surprised you have taken such a confrontational stance to your fellow racers.
The competition in the Southeast is pretty strong, but nobody here is going pro. We would all prefer to race hard and clean, put the cars on the trailer in one piece, then sit around the campfire talking about how great we were. If you beat us by 2 seconds, that’s cool. But nobody says we can’t just give out trophies for 2nd through 4th.
There’s hidden land mines in the social world of SpecE30. One of them is the subject of 4 smashed cars at CMP turn 1.
We tried that a couple yrs ago. After which we kinda got together and decided that smashing 4 cars at CMP turn 1 was a dumb idea and we wouldn’t do it again.

My recollection is that we tried that two years in a row. Okay, maybe we are slow learners sometimes…
And here is my Saturday video. It was long so I cut it up into 4 pieces. I have posted 1 and 4, the start and finish but ran out of MB on Vimeo for parts 2 and 3. Spoiler alert, 2 and 3 are very similar to 1 and 4. You get the idea.
That was a great weekend. Good to meet Scott from Sarasota and his lady friend. Dunno when the next event is, but already looking forward to getting back on the track. VIR maybe?
After watching Evan’s video, it looks like he has taken Jones’s place as being the new superman in turn four. Why anyone thinks three wide is going to work there doesn’t understand the entry to five. It occured to me watching that, if the 50/50 rule were enforced than maybe, just maybe, people wouldn’t be so damned aggressive trying to win a race on the first damn lap. I hope Nascar discovers how talented he is soon.
the nasa-ma vir event july 23-25 should be a big one, the GRM UTCC is there on fri and it’s the usual full schedule on sat/sun. let’s get a southeast contingent together and have some fun with the mid-atlantic crowd. i bet they don’t even know what badminton is.
That’s a good thing, not a bad thing. Anyways, if anyone is planning on attending both Roebling this month and a future MA event could you please let me know. I would would like to ask you to transport my broken Getrag to Andrew Zimmermann at a MA event as I don’t see myself getting up there this year. I’m really looking forward to Roebling and getting to be on the same side of the track as the SpecE30 area to hang out with you guys.
I’m not sure where this is coming from, there was no incident in T4 or T5 on the first lap, and if 2 rookies sandwiching Brian Jones can do it, anyone should be able to. Why is a 50/50 rule involved if no one touched anyone else? Three wide in T4 clearly does work if it is sorted out before T5, which it was.
I apologize if I’ve done something wrong but it looks like good racing by all involved to me, in any of our videos.
That is tame compared to Reznikov, Palacio, Pantas and me all going thru 3 with Will in the yellow rabbit, there was no way anyone was backing out…I saw Will throwing his drawl’s in a trash can after that. Does anyone in that group have video?

Evan, I still have a vivid memory of Jones, Patton and Moses going through turn four with Jones taking the inside line away from Patton which resulted in two seriously damaged cars. Moses and Patton were taken out of the race. The only reason there wasn’t damage to the three cars is someone decided to give you the room you needed. I guess that is one way to sort things out.
