Just got around to opening the July (BMWCCA) Roundel magazine. Maybe this is old news but they did a big article on Jim, his girls and the #63 Pink Panther. Article is not available on their web site.
Article is primarily on the girls, and is actually kinda cute.
Yeah I thought it was nice to see the BMW club pull their head out of the sand and acknowledge the white elephant in their racing room.
You are right Jim. It is amazing that a club that is suppose to promote all things BMW chooses to ignore Spec e30.
They also choose to pretty much ignore CCA club racing. The spring “racing” issue of Roundel got the club race digest list all up in arms because the cover photo was a club race car, but not a CCA Club Race car…And the copy within was all about professional racing, and nothing amateur. The response from Satch at the time was that the CCA membership at large didn’t care about club-level racing. Perhaps he is correct, but still, was perceived as a slap.
Now, featuring a NASA car will likely get the CR faithful up in arms again, oddly enough.
yeah i remember the flap about that photo hehe… but it seems to me that there is a good amount of interest in Spec e30 amongst the cca membership whether the club, cr or roundel acknowledges it or not.
