So I just called to order a back up set of pads and my dealer informed me that PFC discontinued 01 compound for E30s and now only make 06s.
Did anybody else hear this?

Who is saying that?
Clay and the BW guys have them in stock since effectively he has them ‘special made’ for both the 01’s and 06’s compounds for e30’s.
So far as I know, only Bimmerworld can supply PFC-01 compounds in E30 fitment. They have the pads made to order.

http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/ is now an official supplier of PFC 01s and 06s and they are located in Alpharetta which is local for us Atlanta folks. Along with PFC pads they also sell SE30 legal sway bars.
The guys that have raced in the SE for awhile now know that BimmerWorld has supported the 6th place trophy and are also instrumental in the fact that any PFC pads are produced for e30’s.
Support the vendors that support the series and racers…
We didn’t even get a free set of brake pads when we themed our lemons car around the BW cars:(
I’m kidding noticed James Clay was onlineB)
Keep in mind the last E30 Lemons car we sponsored was the People’s Choice in grand style… You are probably better off. And looks awesome!!
The PFC 01 and 06 pads are alive and well and both are in stock in quantity her in VA, 2 days away from GA via ground shipping, but as I tell all the guys going through our BMW CR school, you know you need them eventually so you should have your next set in the trailer anyway.
About 3 years ago we finally got PFC to produce these for us because we had been using them in our WC cars and I felt strongly that they are the best pad on the market and I wanted our E30 customers to be able to have them. What finally made it happen after months and months of follow-ups and skepticism on sales was me stroking a PO for a pallate full per shape. And, at that time I got to set PFC’s retail pricing for them which unlike the other pad shape where PFC IS a premium pad over other brands and price reflects it, I kept them on par with the rest of the brands to make them more workable for what I feel is a series with generally tighter budgets.
Our prices remain at this level for this Special Order pad - which is retail plus the special order charge we had to agree to pay to get them made even with our volume comitment. It is flattering that some other folks are jumping on the path we cleared and I assume bought a few sets of the over-production pads made in excess of what we ordered. I suspect if they had ever really paid attention to the costing, they would recognize the Special Order price premium and their prices would also reflect this.
Its a little irritating to give back to the series for two years with free sets of these PFCs for the 6th place award and then get undercut in the product we brought to life, but it obviously happens.
When BW hosts their next big bbq, like they seem to do at a NASA and BMW CR event each year, maybe a couple of us should spend the time sitting alone in the dark reflecting on the errors of their ways.
My pfc06’s arrived from BW today.
James, I have run 01s on my M3 for HPDEs for years and love them. Started in Spec E30 half way through this year and now use the 01 on my Spec car as well. for our sprint races do you still like the 01 or the 06? When do you like one over the other? Need to order back ups tonight.
PS thanks for the great deal on the LTW wheels and tire totes.
Thanks guys and sorry to feel the need to speak up.
I personally prefer staggering 06 front and 01 rear to get more rear brake, but it does make the rear of the car light - which suits me as a driver. I usually say that matched front and rears is the safe starting poing and if you aren’t too bothered by the feel under heavy trail braking. If you want the best performance without respect to wear or enduro life, I prefer starting with 01 4 corners, then going with 06 front to move the bias. 06F/01R has a pretty equal wear rate as well.

AAaah yes, the people’s curse. Easily my proudest moment as a driver/owner. Poor car crushed. So many cheater parts destroyed But DAMN did those PFC pads bite

I’m all for BW support and I don’t run PFCs but I still would like to know who is selling stuff cheap.
I for one will continue to purchase my PFC pads from Bimmerworld, even if a cheaper source comes along. I think of that level of customer loyalty as a reward for their efforts to make the PFC-01 pad in E30 fitment.
Love Bimmerworld. Love the service, the price point, the reliability and the flexibility.
On a technical note I run PFC06 front AND rear, because my Australian dealer (who I used to work for) wasn’t able to get PFC01. So far I have had no problems with 06 F&R, but I have removed the BMW Proportioning Valve, replaced it with a Tilton Variable Valve, and also run big ducts and slotted rotors etc all the trimming. 06 works well in hot temps, but is a bit lacking in the front during night races unless you block up the ducts.
But get them - PFC is a premium product at a fantastic price point in this pad shape.
Guys and Clay,
Didn’t realize this is going to start a firestorm, nor did I realize that you went through all that to get the pads made. I still get my pads from you guys. I know 06 is a good pad, but I prefer the 01.
Alex.
