Parts needed to finish SE30 build

#1

Just about done. Here is what I can see that I need:

All parts for a 1987 325 IS:

The plastic radiator fill tank, along with mounting bracket. Overflow bottle a plus. The part I have is new but is for a later model car…

Third brake light.

Master cylinder cap.

If anyone has a parts car and can part with the above, I’d be willing to part with a few bucks and/or pay some shipping. Please respond and let me know.

I was figuring on going to the local PickNPull on Saturday. If I see your stuff I’ll pull it.

I have a 3rd brake light that you can have. I think it’s late model. Which ever 3rd brake light type you get, inevitably you get to fab a mount for it.

I think of the plastic fill tank and overflow bottle as being synonymous. You make them sound different. Clarify pls. The only bracket I know of is welded to the strut tower, is that what you mean?

I need a fill tank, wherever you put the coolant in, along with its mount/bolt, whatever. The tank I have is rounded and has no mount, I think it is a later model, because the prior owner was trying to convert the car to later model cooling. I swapped it back. Is there not a separate catch tank for radiator overflow if the cap hits rated pressure?

If anyone has a picture of a 1987 or identical filler tank that they can post, I would appreciate it. I may only need the bracket. I just got on line and looked at pictures of the tank, and it looked like what I have, although I may not have the bracket.

For the overflow a lot of people either run a tube to the washer fluid reservoir or just use a random plastic bottle of some sort (soda bottle or something). There’s not an “official” overflow bottle that I know of.

The bracket for the early tank is welded to the fender just forward of the passenger strut tower.

It’s easy to install a late model 3rd brake light into an early car. Just align the light where you want it and drill two holes through the package shelf into the trunk. Use longish bolts with the nuts in the trunk. No fabrication needed. If I get a chance I’ll take some photos tonight.

Tried twice to attach a photo and it wouldn’t work.

If you need it, pm me your email address and I’ll send it to you.

Thanks for the help.

Ranger: I hit the U-pull today and got most all of what I needed. Got the radiator fill bottle, master cylinder cap, third brake light, so don’t pull those when you go. I do, however, needa shifter knob if you can get one or if anyone has one. None of the cars in the yard had one.

Going to do a final bleed of the brakes tomorrow and take it for a ride. Just about done.

Al(rackeu) and I went to the PickNPull today and got all this stuff for you. Still need it?

Later edit. Ahh, you got your stuff. No worries, someone will need them.

If you guys went and got it, I’ll still pay and take it, because I appreciate that you went. You guys coming to South Carolina in three weeks?

Nah, it was just silly stuff that we got for you. Al wanted a bumper and he got it, and I got an alternator, ABS pump and relay. Turnipseed got my spare alternator and I wanted a spare ABS pump ever since me and Greg Moberg had to replace his Lemons ABS pump. And an ABS relay is gold. Everyone brings lots of parts to SE races so when you need a part at a race, usually someone has it.
