OT Ski/Junkyard report

Hello Guys and Girls

I am on my annual trip out west, snowboarding and hitting junkyards. I went to 3 U pull it yards in Tenn, found a few LS units…going to the Phoenix yards on Monday. I am sure most of you have heard about the Marine stationed in NC that there is a nationwide manhunt for, it seems the police thought I was that guy…at least enough to follow me from Arkansas to Oklahoma and then lower the boom on me at a gas station in the middle of nowhere. It seems that when I stopped at a Crapper Barrel in Ark someone took note of my NC tag and combat boots in the back of my Subaru wagon, they tried to keep me at the restaurant till more police arrived but I was in a hurry. the police followed me into OK, I noticed a bunch of cops and thought I was just lucky they didnt stop me for speeding…when I stopped for gas, a Ford Exploder pulled in behind me, when I had my hands full with the gas nozzle the guy jumps out and orders me to put my hands on the car. Within seconds the swat team, state police, county sheriff, local dog catcher had me surrounded. By the way, I am twice as old, probably 6 inches taller than the guy they are looking for. It only took an hour or so to get it sorted out and I was back on my way. After delivering some parts to a guy building an e30 rally car in Amarillo, I made it to Pagosa Springs CO for some snowboarding. This part of CO has had a massive amount of snow. I took it easy my first day and managed 10 runs without busting my ass, but I did get food poisoning and spent 36 hours close to the crapper. This morning I felt well enough to do a half day, but on the way to the mountain I stopped by the sulfur springs for a soak and managed to wrench my back slipping on ice, so I am back in bed…hopefully tomorrow I can get back on the slopes. It is around 10 below here at night and the snow is waist deep, kinda funny hearing about the inch of snow back east…

And you’re not even Hispanic…

#4

Separated at birth?

#5

Watch out for those semi trucks crashing into the store at the bottom of the pass! You’re having quite the adventure!

#6

They probably figured even if you weren’t that dude you were probably guilty of something.

#7

Did you at least get some pics of you with the SWAT team? That’d be cool.

No photo’s of the takedown…

Wolf Creek Pass is not to be fooled with, The sulfur springs here in Pagosa are great, unless you are high maintenance like JP. After I took a soak this morning, I was able to walk around in a t shirt and light jacket in the 20 degree sunlight. Luckily during my bout of food poisoning there was a planet of the apes marathon on AMC…

Al,
Teach me to live! If you never write a book, the world will miss out.
Enjoy the snow bunnies.

Yep, it is hard to beat Snowboarding, Hot sulfur springs, and watching 3 Planet of the Apes movies in a row. Not too much snow bunny action out here, on tuesday there were maybe 50 people total at Wolf Creek…I am headed to Vegas next week though and then up to the Vail area so that should be a little different.

I also got to watch Death Wish 3 twice while I was down with the craps. Anyone ever notice how BMW’s get abused in Bronson’s movies? Thugs beat the shit out of an e30 at the beginning of Death Wish 4…and they blow up an e21 in Death Wish 3…

The events of the last 48 hrs are pretty dim…we did one run from the top of steamboat but there was just too much vomiting to continue, we killed a $250 Magnum of champagne at 5 am to get started, little mitchie stuck his head in a snowbank but it didnt do any good. I managed to hit 50% of the shuttle busses with ice balls but the cops never showed. at this point all the jager, bailey’s, champagne, and newcastle is gone. The condo is scattered with lump crabmeat, chips and salsa…There is so much powder here it is a shame, we will try to make it to the gondala tomorrow, hopefully the wind has died down. The only time anyone has stepped outside today is to throw an iceball at a bus. Mitch did want to do a flying squirel leap across the walkway into the snowbank but could not stand up long enough to make a launch. I just found a salami sandwich that I packed into my ski jacket 3 days ago.

Having fun

Dude, you are my hero!

AL, You post caught my eye, I used to date a girl from Pagosa Springs. That place has some of the best snow I have ever experienced. Enjoy your stay! and if you run into a beautiful blonde named Sierra, tell her Erick says hi!

Back in the day I loved to ski the slopes. You sound like a wild man. We can keep the party going when you return to. You going to be at Summit L8’r this year?

Pagosa is a pretty cool, low key place…spent most of my time there on the toilet unfortunately, up in steamboat springs now, had 20 inches of fresh powder yesterday and it is still coming down, don’t know when I will be able to drive out but all we can do is board as long as our bodies will take it.

There are 2 ex Tarheelers out here, Matthew Johnson, US Production Rally champ, x-vir rally instructor and Kurt Spitzner ex GRM, SCCA pro rally director…I think i have scared them pretty bad.

Team Malt Liquor Tech will make at least one trip to Summit this year…
