O'Fest...anyone, anyone?

#1

I know that a couple of our east coast drivers are planning to do O’Fest. I’m considering it myself but want to get an idea about who is planning to race. Having 6-8 Spec E30 racers would really get some attention.

Carter, I didn’t realize that O-fest is being help on September 17-18 (the week before Summit Point). I actually thought it would be held, well, in October!

I’d love to come racing, but am 50-50 at best.

Also, I would have to apply for my BMW license…any experience transfering the NASA license over? Anyone?

I would like to come up for the race. At this point we have only two obstacles in the way. 1) hotel rooms, are there any left? 2) getting there, at this point we don’t have any way to transport our car up there.

Also, are the races going to be run during the week, or on the weekend?

Vic - I had no trouble getting a BMW license earlier this summer, with 4 race-weekends on my NASA license. Good luck!

Weekend races.

It now appears that I’ll be there as the assistant competition steward for the weekend. Looking forward to meeting those of you who will be able to attend.

Great!

Even if I don’t race, I’ll make a point to be there to meet you.

Brandon has applied for his BMWCCA license and if it goes thru… he will be racing. Am I reading the info correct that it cost $65-$85 to attend on Saturday/Sunday???

Nevermind, looks like the daily fee is just for Monday-Friday…go figure…

So we have Brandon, Robert, Vic-maybe, and me-maybe.

Anyone else?

#11

Signed up back in June. I’ll be doing KP on one day and KS on the other day. We’ll see you there. Robert Patton

Was going to try to go…but not going to make it for various reasons.

See you at summit main next time.

Vic,

I was thinking the same thing. When I started applying for a PCA licence they kinda laughed at my NASA credentials. Said I needed to run 5 races under a provisional/rookie licence before I could be blessed with a full up PCA Licence. So I sold the porsche.

It would be nice however to get a BMWCCA licence to run other events.

Brain,

I got the same attitude from BMWCCA licensing.

One of the reasons I am not doing Ofest, just left an unpleasant "you really aren’t welcome" feeling. Almost made me cancel my membership at CCA, but I like the magazine and the discount at the dealer.

One day I may get a CCA license, but for now I am having too much fun at NASA and I have plenty of racing nearby.

I didn’t get that feeling at all when I applied.

I’ll be there we are hopefully bringing several cars over.

Not Spec E30’s though.

Ric, Brain, my experience with BMWCCA has been very good. Perhaps your correspondene with CCA was on a bad day? Regardless, they are a great bunch of racers to run with. Should you race at a CCA event you’ll find that your spec e30 car fits between their established classes of KP and KS. Because of the permanant modifications that most all have done to race in spec e30, there is no going back to the KStock class (roll bars to shock towers, interior deletes, adjustable camber in front and rear, no cat, no a/c). Because KPrerared rules allow coil over shocks, camshafts, headers and chips (as well as other things I can’t recall) you’ll find it difficult to compete with the CCA race leaders. Yet, with the talent of the spec E30 front-of-the-pack racers you will be still be at the front of the pack within the CCA category of KP. So…my point is to encourage you to come on out to O’fest and race with us. The latest O’fest sign-up roster looks like this:Cullen Nissen Osborne Hinkley Abraham Shields Rentler Posig Strickler Watson Gallum and spec e30 racers Secosky and Patton. The VIR full course is so much fun to race at…I’m hoping to see many more spec e30 cars there. Regards, Robert (sometimes KP, sometimes KS, sometimes Spec e30 , but always with a good excuse for being slow)Patton

Carter, what is the percentage of your "me maybe" comment? Without a race weekend to go to I may have to mow the grass.Let’s see, September 17-18 is four more weekends away. Perhaps I’ll go build another race car in my spare time. Regards, Robert Patton

I’m not looking too good for O’fest. It’s too much money and time right now.

I was lookng to do O’Fest but we just found out that an MRI on my daughter’s knee is a part of a "hospital stay" and goes under our $2,500 deductable, instead of the copay. Needless to say; an unpleasant surprise.

That $979.00 just took a bite out of my racing budget.

Carter Jr. and I will drive the GTO up for a visit that Saturday though.

See you there.
