New Troubleshooting, Tips & Resources sections

#1

Mike and I are trying to better organize this TT&R section so it will be easier to browse for info. What I’ve found, going thru ~700 threads is that folks are asking the same questions over and over again. But no one will browse thru 20 pages of unrelated threads in the hope of finding an answer to their question. Our hope is that if the information is better organized, folks can more easily browse subjects that interest them and find answers and ideas.

Newbies often don’t know what they don’t know. And that makes it hard to ask questions.

I’ve come across some of my own early posts. I was so painfully ignorant that someone would have had to tie a pork chop around my neck to get a dog to play with me.

You do have to think about the other side of the coin though. If it gets to where all the answers can be found in previous threads then there will be no new threads and the forum will be boring. Also when a new person asks a question it gives a chance for newer members to put their input in or add to the knowledge base.

We’re human. Just because answers can be found in previous threads doesn’t mean people will go look for it. Even now that the search engine is vastly improved. But those who are inclined to spend some time browsing thru old threads looking for info on the subject can now do so, whereas before they really couldn’t.

IMO a person with a specific question usually ends up posting his question. And if the forum gets a little dull someone can holler at Gasman to get into a thread.
