New E30 Owner Seeks "Ousted" Pieces/Parts...

#1

Hey, have had an '89 325i “fo-dough” in my garage for about a month now…got it from a neighbor that was moving and it wasn’t running, so they gave up on it and sold it to me.

While it’s not a “Spec E30” just yet, it’s possible it’s headed in that direction, but until that happens…I’m proud to introduce it as my new “daily driver”.

I’ve changed the timing belt/tensioner, water pump, plugs, flushed the cooling system, changed the heater control valve and spent endless nights troubleshooting the central locking system - finally got that issue resolved last Thursday - and have been messing around with putting a decent stereo system in it (has the premium speakers!)…

…and I’m looking for a few items that I’m certain you Spec E30 racers don’t use.

Does anyone have a decent set of 14" basket weaves they want to sell?? …with or without tires?? The car has new tires on it with 14" bottle cap wheels and I like the basket weave look much better.

I’m also looking for a front lip and trunklid spoiler…

My hood has seen better days as it has some rust, a sizeable dent in the middle and the clear coat is peeling…thinking of having it re-sprayed but maybe someone on here has a better candidate to work with? (a good used hood, that is)

I have a set of H&R “race” springs on the way to stiffen it up and lower it, thinking I might get the right Bilstein shocks in case I do go the Spec E30 route or if I decide to sell it, at least it’ll be a few good steps in the right direction if someone wants to go Spec E30 with it…after all, the Bilstein “Sport” setup is only about $60 more than the plain old replacement cartridges.

Well, I’m thinking many of you all may know me from NASA MA events, so if you have anything I might be interested in to make this a decent running/looking daily driver, do let me know - see you at VIR in two weeks!

I have some CHROME Baskets with tires with good tread, except the fronts have a track day on them, so a little wear on the outside edge. $300?

I think I still have a trunk spoiler. I can bring it to VIR so you can have a look at it.

Jeff - I have a decent hood in Chesapeake. Can probably deliver to Pallister. Let me know if you want it. edavidson@inther.com

I have all of the above. Let me know what you need + anything else. I just started parting out a 87 325is. It has everything except the steering rack, front seats, and front bumper. Anyone else intersted? I’m in the Baltimore area.

Let me know

When I was shopping for one a year ago a $150 plus shipping was considered a good buy for one. Keep in mind that shipping will run $50 plus for these and unless they are packaged very well the bushing frame can easily be broken.

ESphoto, thanks for the offer but I don’t think I want chrome wheels at the moment, I would imagine they look pretty cool though.

MSKEEN, on the trunk spoiler, you bet…bring it to VIR.

Mr. Davidson, with regards to the hood, I’m interested…what do you want for it? …I can come pick it up, no problem.

I’ll email you on the hood.

Thanks for the offers, just trying to make this a decent daily driver, both mechanically and cosmetically.

Try ebay for LSD. I bought one last yr $90 + $86 to ship from California to West Virginia.

Hey guys, something else I’m looking for - the trim that runs along the drip rails, above the doors, passenger side. I figure your race cars don’t need this item? Mine is missing, I don’t care if the chrome is bad or not as I’m probably going to scuff 'em up and paint them Wurth trim black.

From what I understand, this piece (and the little 1" joint connector) is the same on a two door as it is a four door? …maybe you can help me out on determining that?

Again, just trying to make this a decent daily driver - bringing it back from near death…it’s certainly been a lesson in tinkering and collecting parts.
