T12 & T14 refer to Turns 12 & 14 on the track. Glad to see you’ll be at VIR. It’s a great track. I’ll be in HPDE2 driving the “NOT///MPOWER” black 318is. Stop by if ya get a chance.

btw… the secret to going fast is seat time, seat time, seat time. Work on becomeing a good driver first, and the speed will come.

So how about some comments about the new layout from a drivers point of view? How does the new t-12-t14 flow? Does the repaving around the track seem to help tire wear? The times don’t seem to be much different than past quick times.

LEt’s hear your thoughts!

The new CMP is truly a new and improved CMP.

The track changes have all been for the better. And they are really working hard to make it one of the best tracks in the southeast. At Fridays Turn One event they told us they had torn up the track in T14 to tweak a few thing from the week before. They were also asking for drivers feedback. Hopefully they heard enough about the track-out at 14… it is still way to rough out there.

In a nutshell… 12-14 is much needed improvement. And it makes CMP a much more worth while place to visit.

The paddock and pre-grid areas have come a long way too.

My day ended early, but I gotta tell you the new course really instilled confidence. T12-14 is perfect and very fast now. Trail brake into 12 and start applying gas right away, there is no braking until you reach 14 and for me the braking zone going into 14 was the same. New pavement has been applyed to all of the problematic areas, the car actually sticks when you apply power now, especially 2,5,6 and 11,

The new turn is fun but not challenging. The paving really made a difference and helped tire wear. I still can’t go flat from T1 through 3 though. I tried and it doesn’t work.

I do, thanks I appreciate it. Is the new course significantly different or was it just a repave?

The layout has changed from T12-T14 in addition to some new pavement everywhere else. It is a different configuration than the original track (and both layouts can still be run).

Before turns 12-13-14 were borderline 2nd gear turns if you wanted to get a quick burst…now I assume they are all 3rd gear with our cars. Correct?
