Had a scored block I dropped off at a machine shop to be cleaned up for oversized pistons and whatnot. I was going to install it this spring so I had a descent motor to start a season for once. The shop has since burned to the ground and the condition of my block is unknown. Any leads on a descent block? No luck calling around junkyards up here in NY.
Need a block
I may have one too - should still be sitting at the shop I left it at, and it available for free (or a case of beer) if you don’t mind dealing directly with the shop.

Block situation is taken care of, do any forum/series sponsors supply Spec legal oversized pistons?
Call up Bimmerparts. They are a MidAtl sponsor. Tell them you’re a SpecE30 racer. Sometimes pistons can be found for <$700/set, sometimes not.
Definitely call Bimmerparts - but be careful you don’t build an engine that is over the arbitrary new HP limits…
Pistons and rings received from Bimmerparts. Now I’m told the oil pan is suspect, just go with a used one? Or should I look for the high capacity one I think Paul was making?
The important thing is that you do something about oil control. There’s some good solutions in the engine subforum. The Poore pan is primo solution, but also the most expensive solution. If you do go that route, make sure you install a good skid plate to protect it. The new CCR allows us to use a skidplate that is much heavier duty then in years past. If I had a Poore pan, that’s the skidplate I’d use.
I have an oil pan in pretty good shape - should even have some shots of how to do the DIY mods somewhere on the computer. Shoot me a PM with e-mail address if interested.
