Scott,
Sorry to hear/see of your bad luck, I know the feeling all too well!
FYI, Greg didn’t get cold feet and we got him hitched today with a beautiful wedding in the rain!
Hope to see all the NorCal/SoCal guys at Buttonwillow next month.

Scott,
Sorry to see your race ended before it really started. Glad your OK, to race another day !!
I guess having in UT looks to be a 3 year deal?
Can anyone confirm that? Also wondering if anyone knows how attendance (overall obviously SE30 was way down) compared to Mid-Ohio events?
Looks like a 2 year deal for Miller. http://www.nasaproracing.com/2008/09/national-champions-to-be-at-mi.html
I heard this year’s car count was +/-350 versus +/-400 last year at MidOhio.
I hope to be in a position to go back next year. The track is way more fun than I expected from looking at the track map and elevation. IndyJim will probably hate it since it, like Barber, is an Alan Wilson design. But it is quite fun.
Overall, there was very, very little carnage. Lots of cars came in dusty, but there’s not much to hit compared to MidOhio. I was sorry to see Scott as an exception to that rule.
Steve D.
I don’t mind Barber the track, although it is a little busy. I do mind the mgmt. and pricing.
The problem with Miller is, well its in Utah.
Interesting I figured it would be down more from Mid-O. But not bad considering a) Utah and b) the economy.
Steve, Wouldn’t it have been cheaper to leave your car there and go back next year? Still taking comedy leasons from Jim…how am I doing?
Keep working at it Gasman.
I’ve been watching IndyJim’s enduro strategy of having other people do the hard work then swooping in to take credit at the last minute. Soooo…
I had a friend of mine drive the duallie & 3 car trailer out there and I split the cost of diesel with another friend. We got 3 cars out there pretty cheap (if you ignore the wear and tear on the duallie and my friend). I figure it was around $700 out of pocket to transport the car out there.
And to make us Southeast racers feel at home Ricky Bobby made an appearance in the paddock.

If Steve had taken me up on my offer to pay my entry and tow my car out there, he might have gotten a bigger contingency payout.
Lesson for next year…
Finally I got time to log in!!!
First, congrats to King Cobetto III, and just like Del Potro told Federer yesterday after winning the US Open, “I want to be like you (when I grow up)”, he!
Second, I got no video to show the race incident I was involved (my camera stopped working 45 seconds after we took the track), but I was just in the middle of the two guys in front of me with no place to go, I kept my car as straight as I could, I was “the ham in the sandwich”. I have no intentions of taking nobody out of any race, and specially Scott since he was so kind to come and introduce himself and we discussed options to expand the Spec E30 field in the Socal region, and even offered help to fix a broken suspension part for me. I apologize for any pain/inconvenience I might have involuntarily caused you Scott, it was not my intention to ruin your race.
Unfortunately from Scott’s video you can’t tell if Brad and I were moving together to the left, or if any car had a twitch and moved. I’d love to see the start from the front of the pack, maybe when they upload it at speedcasttv.com on 9/22/09
I hope to get my hp back to oem for next year’s championship so I could be more competitive, being at only 143hp right now doesn’t help.
Scott, sorry to hear about your bad luck. When i came around at the end of lap one i was disappointed to see you in the tire wall. Glad your ok. Hows the car? is it repairable?
Unfortunetly i wasn’t able to watch the spece30 race because i was racing honda challenge at the same time. I did catch the last two laps of it because i followed Cobetto and 2nd place around the track. I was told over my radio they were in a battle for postion, so i throttled back and just watched.
Great race, congrats Cobetto.
Hope next year has a better turn out. It was a bit shocking to barely see 10 cars on the grid.

Victor,
No hard feelings on my part. It was just an unfortunate racing incident pure and simple. Looking forward to racing at Buttonwillow next month…especially since they have less guardrails there
Cheers,
Scott
just incase anyone is interested in seeing the battle between cobetto and j&f racing, heres one lap of me behind them.
im going slow and following because my spotter told me they were battling for position and i had a 30 second gap to my nearest competitor. i figured id wait till the main straight to pass.
there was also a yellow for the red RSX off in the S’s.

Great video. Thanks for posting this. Fun to see Steve and Chris going at it.
Boy those Guys blowing the double Yellow was hairy! Yikes that could have been very ugly.
Nice racing Graham. You showed patience waiting to get around your competitor. You showed the way to get it done waiting for his tires to go and getting the right opportunity.
Does anybody have a link to the mylaps results? Also what are Ferrario and McClure’s first names?
