Steve DeVinney, in order finish first, you must first finish.

Big race tomorrow?

Good luck.

Good luck to everyone in tomorrow’s Spec E30 Championship race. And many thanks to Steve for your updates.

I tried to get the results from the NASA website but being half-computer illiterate, I was having trouble. Regardless, it looks like anything can happen in the race tomorrow.

Have fun guys and I wish I was there with you.

Great video from Steve. The foot view in the picture is great! Like Speed Channel.

It’s 2:30 eastern so I guess they are racing right now. Can’t wait to see the results.

I hope everyone is alright.

The crash happened at the start. With only six cars, I suppose it qualifies as “the big one” when 3 cars are involved. Victor, Scott and Brad got into an overlap/tangle/pit maneuver kerfuffle. Scott got the worst of it when he spun driver’s left and impacted the wall backwards. He had a bit of a headache, but was in pretty good spirits walking around at the podium.

Here are the results:

  1. Cobetto
  2. Ferrario
  3. DeVinney
  4. McClure
  5. Beraja
    DNF Neville

Congrats to Chris on another championship. He did a great job on the restart when Ferrario was caught out a bit. I took advantage and slotted into 2nd, but he got back by me. I tried to signal to him for us to work together, but he went defensive which allowed Cobetto to break away and cool his 888s. I fell back as Ferrario chipped away at Cobetto’s lead, eventually working his way back to the leader. McClure got back under way quickly after his spin at the start and was coming on pretty strong. He got past Victor, but I was able to run a safe pace and maintain enough gap to finish in 3rd.

I had a great time, met some of the great west coasters (including Walter Ford who came to spectate) and best of all put the car on the trailer in the same condition it arrived.

More video later…

Steve D.

I’m OK…I had a headache for about 10 minutes. My race was all of 17 seconds…I was really looking forward to the fight for 3rd spot as Steve Ferrario and Chris C. were going to be battling for 1st and 2nd. It was great to meet both Chris C. and Steve DeVinny. Great guys and good clean racers.

Here’s my 17 seconds of race on film. Warning…a little colorful language… http://www.vimeo.com/6559915

All in all a great experience. Looks like the PointSix #37 car is a total unfortunately :frowning:

Cheers,
Scott

on a straight … that really does suck.
But why would that accident cause the HC guys to pass under double yellows? Sounds like it was unrelated.
Glad you’re ok.

My wreck caused a full course yellow. The HC cars were the first wave to start and were under green conditions when my wreck occured. The SpecE30s were the last of 3 individual standing starts.

Scott:

So sorry to have seen your crash. Of course, it’s good to see that you’re okay.

And congratulations to Chris for another Spec E30 National Championship. He’s truly one of the top racers in Spec E30 and I hope all the Cobetto crowd has a safe drive back across the country.

Sorry about your wreck Scott, video is tough to see what happened - I saw just a flash of dirt on the track, maybe somebody got a bit sideways under throttle there.

Congrats to Chris - clearly the Champ.

Thanks AJ,

Watch the right portion of my rear view mirror…you can see Victor’s white car drift over and touch my car which gets me pointed into Brad’s #91 car which I bounce off of and go spinning. There is a donut on the passenger side just ahead of my rear wheel where we contacted. Bad racing luck.
