Really? That’s a helluva good deal. I’ll take 2 spots for nationals (maybe 3 if I can talk Fowler into building himself a car).

It might change if the price of Diesel fluctuates, I already offered to haul some of Tom’s cars out as well!
FWIW: We charged $400ea roundtrip for Charlotte to Mid-Ohio this year - and we were full with a waiting list.
I’ll probably be going. Won’t tow that far, but I have a feeling that a lot of transporters are going to be going out there from the east coast, so it should be easy to arrange one.

There are more cars out here on the west coast than others might know about… We are already almost where you guys were at this year…
Of course we will have to see how many guys put their money where their mouth is… or should I say gas tank… and come out!!!
I’ll be there this weekend for Grand Am… Pray for rain!!!
Honestly why Miller?
It’s just not appealing. I’m not gonna drive for two days and take off 10 days of work to go to an “OK” track. If I go it will be on a plane.
Who said it was an “OK” track? In my, admittedly limited, experience I think it’s a very good track. Maybe someone who has driven both Mid-Ohio and MMP can comment; but from the events I’ve watched on TV and videos of Mid-Ohio that have been posted I can say that it looks like a comparably fun track, a LOT safer track and the facilities that are there are first rate (I’m note sure how the size of the facilities compare).
It would be interesting to know why this change happened. Budget? Trying to grow the west? Or??
It looks like a top notch track and facility to me. Honestly I have no problem with it being at Miller. Its better than it being in cali, which adds another 10 or 12 hours or something to get there. I can just about get there without doing a full 2 day tow, so I can still work Tuesday before and after the event if I really push it towing, which means I “only” have to take 4 work days off. Much futher and I’d have to take off an extra 2 days.
Another reason if we go we’ll be renting a space on a tractor trailer and flying. It takes less time and it might even be cheaper.
Has anyone here ever driven miller? Which configuration will we be using?
If I can get my car out there, wearing a new set of triple 8’s and with a set of rains stuffed inside, will someone lend me a rag and a jack to check the oil and rotate the tires?

Seriously, I understand why they moved it and frankly, I’m surprised they didn’t do this earlier. NASA is based on the West Coast so it only makes sense to have the National Championship races “closer to home.”
I’ll try to make the trip but like many others, it depends on the business climate, etc.
I’ve run some numbers and since I’m two hours from the Atlantic Ocean, a long weekend at Miller will cost me about $3,000.00 and about 8 days. That’s a serious commitment.
If I can’t do the race, I might look for a cheap flight and just come out for the weekend to hang out with the group.
Meeting the Rocky Mountain/West Coast Spec E30 Racers would be a blast, I’m sure.

As series founder you have a little sway don’t you? The offer to have you come out and drive is still open… How about Infineon in November?
Personally I think it’s only fair to switch back and forth. Is there a track nearer to the middle of the country that would work?
Topeka (Heartland Park)is closest to the geographic center of the country. I suspect from talking to logictics companies that Mid-Ohio is closest to the population center of the country.
There’s a reason SCCA is moving away from Topeka. No one wants to go there. If it’s going to be a long tow, it needs to be a worth while location.
I’m at Miller right now for the Grand Am race (doing data, not driving – although I did get a ride around in a golf cart tonight right at sunset) and it’s quite the facility. Nicer & larger facility functionality than Barber but not as much landscaping as Barber. It’s has quite the natural view around it though as it’s pretty much surrounded by mountains. Hopefully I can get the pictures off my phone on post them when I get back.
I’m here at Miller right now (working for a GS team) and I’m really excited about NASA Championships being here next year… The facility is second to none! The property is 550 acres and it is ALL used. To put that into perspective, Thunderhill only uses about 250 acres… There will be absolutely NO shortage of paved paddock space for ALL competitors, unlike having to work on your back in wet grass at Mid Ohio.
Nice showers and bathrooms have me leaning towards camping for the week instead of paying for a hotel room. A motorhome would be nicer than the craphole hotel I’m staying in now.
Only 3 dislikes:
Everything else is great here. The best way I’ve heard it put is “F1 meets buttonwillow”.
The layout itself is like Sears Point and Laguna seca put together with no real elevation change.
All-in-all I’m looking forward to it…
Just my 2 cents,
sorry for the ramble…
I watched the race on tv. It looks like a fantastic track :woohoo: …
but that does not change the fact that it is located in utah and that gas is $4/gal. .
