Don’t worry Steve whatever you decide to run I can safely say it will be “uncompetitively”
Nationals 2009 at Miller
Steve,
I saw your name in the lineup watching the 2008 NASA nationals I recorded last week. Why didn’t they just call it the NASA Miata Nationals and allow me to save space on my Tivo for CSI reruns? That was the only race group they spotlighted.
John
You mean the “Todd Lamb” show?
It was better than no coverage, but they sure spent a lot of time showing the top 5 cars. What about the rest of us?
For 2008 Spec E30 coverage, go here http://www.drivenasa.com//championships/2008-Spec-E30.html.
I didn’t get any coverage there either (early DNF). Maybe I can change that in Utah.

Tentative Schedule is up

Championship race for us is now on Saturday and we now have to pay another $200 to practice on Wednesday.
Doesn’t seem like a lot of Spec E30 participation. Maybe we can setup an East Coast championship closer to home? I’m not being selfish, but that would give some of us something to do as well if we don’t want to spend 5 days towing.

I think we should name the top-finishing Southeast SE30 at Nationals as the division champion. But that’s just me talking.

That is beyond mediocre.

Easy - that kind of crazy talk blew up the GTS series, if you have a spare 4-5 hours to kill go read up on that other BMW forum.
Personally I’m rooting for Steve D’s championship hopes since using college football bowl logic I would then be the nat champ by default having owned him at RA.

A race of this caliber derves a world class venue like VIR…

"we rent spec e30s’"
I would be all over that. As it is, I’m considering skipping our last 2 Great Lakes events and finding a SouthEast or MidAtlantic event to attend as a season finale.

If I don’t go to Nationals I would also consider another event in another region. I’m still on the fence. I told my wife I wouldn’t go to Nationals if there aren’t at least 10 cars. I’m guessing if there aren’t more by the end of this month we can be pretty certain there won’t be many more as the price goes up another $100 bucks August 1st. I’m still wondering what all the norcal guys are doing?
Am I the only Spec e30 to have done the outer loop at Miller?
I’ll sell you my secrets for one million dollars!!
Here’s the report from Mylaps, this was only my 3rd race since getting my license, so I’m sure that I left lots of time on the track.

Hey Dr. Evil -
I’m willing to trade data with you once I get to Utah for test day. Got any video and/or Traqmate data you can send me?
Steve D.
No data, let me see if I had the camera running that day. If I did I’ll get it to you. I know a lot of the spec 944’s from our region had video and a few might have had data running last year.
See you at Miller

Not me but here is some video of the outer loop. David Dirks is a good 944 spec driver, he has won our region the last few years, used to race karts…
