Yay! clutch held up.

P.S. - ooohh, somebody is taking home the Geeger trophy.

What a fun race to watch from the back “straight” hill!! Good show, guys and Laura!

Barber really is a cool place to watch a race since you can sit on that hill and watch the cars enter the front straight and take the flag, see them again in the infield horseshoe all the way down to the museum turns, then coming out of the museum turn and down thru the kink.

Congrats to Damion’s win from pole. I guess that answers the question of whether the car is back to 100% after the CMP debacle. He pulled out a pretty good lead on lap 1 and stretched it a bit, but Johann was closing after a few laps. The race (unlike Thunder) stayed green and Damion again had a comfortable lead. The front 3 or 4 were running consistent laps with some space, so the best battle on track was - appropriately - the dice for 6th between R Patton, Geegar, M3Bill… I guess the Taxi avoided its gremlins and I can spread my motor envy between Geegar and Bill. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry I didn’t get to say “hi” to all of you guys on my tour through the paddock, but my 4 year old was b*tching like Robinson about the heat coming off the skid pad. I hadn’t spent much time on the pad, but I swear it is 10 degrees hotter than the grey asphalt. If there ever was a place where a Spec E30 Hospitality Tent was needed, it is there. You probably could have traded one of the guys a kidney for an E-Z-Up between qually and race yesterday.

Also sorry to see Drumbeater going slowly with a banged up car. I understand Levie was also involved? Hope everybody is OK. I had to leave right after the checkers so I could get home for a hot date (with my wife  ).

Steve D.

PS - I hated to hear from IndyJim that a grid error put him way back for the enduro. Like I said, I left right after the sprint race so I don’t know if your hope that “…a giant hole opens up after you guys leave and swallows this place!”

#104

Yep Damion’s added incentive is to make his son proud. So far so good!
Congrats to all on some good racing.
Sorry about Drumbeater and Jim Levie too. :frowning:

#105

I was going slowly before the car was banged up as well. We both raced on Sunday though.

#106

I’m still uploading my video, but I just wanted to say kudos to Jim Levie for getting his car back together on Sunday. He pretty much replaced the rear end on the thing and all on that hot skid pad pavement! I was amazed when he told me the car was ready to go. GREAT JOB!

  • race report/video coming soon.

#107

It was a great time racing with all of you this weekend. Great close racing both days.

#108

It was nice of Steve D. to come out, and good to meet his blonde midget girlfriend. Being Alabama no one commented, and we’ve all been around Al enough to not judge.

I pleasantly look forward to never driving to Leeds, AL again as long as I live.

#109

Bitter Jim strikes again!

I’ll hopefully get my write up together tonight and have the usually p*ss poor quality video that my camera provides as well.

This weekend was the most fun I have had racing yet. Awesome stuff guys and Laura!

And I’m pretty sure after talking to Brendan Digel (sp?) during the “enduro”, “Bitter” Jim is the new Roid Rage king…by far.

Getting charged $60 to walk in the door even though I was a “racer” and then losing 19 places on the grid before the race has that effect on me. The statues and beautiful grass was nice though. Having radicals buzz bomb you every corner was fun too.

I try to take the high road and say WWBJ do, but it hasn’t been helping. Good job on your top 20 finish. :stuck_out_tongue:

#111

That really sucked when they screwed up the grid and you have my sympathies on that. But that was a failure on the part of the NASA folks and had nothing to do with the track itself (so far as I know).

#112

True didn’t mean to imply that I was grouping it all together as an ‘experience’. It is a fun track to race on, but I’ve just never had good luck there so I was happy to hear Pantas tell me they are working feverishly to get back in Roebling’s good graces.

I guess an Alex Molitor motor ain’t so bad…huh Scott?

#114

Brain you actually are one of the few people who got both of my names right! I’ve lived in the south for so long I’ll answer to anything . Also thanks munch for helping Jim and I with his pitstop.

Jim -

They prefer the term “little people.” Time to re-up that Verizon sensitivity training class, eh?

PS - Don’t knock it. She thinks my Miata has plenty of leg room.

#118

You’re one of very few miata drivers that have a girl in the passenger seat so good work there.

BTW- apparently you can’t say retard either. Who knew?
