NASA National Prize $$

#1

I got the email NASA sent WRT NASA Nationals and noticed that lots of race groups are elligible for prize money at the race…Unfortunately Spec E30 was not mentioned as being elligible.

I hope that changes

this has now been fixed on the announcement page at the site.

I know that Carter and I "inquired" separately and I was told that it was an oversight and then corrected.

C’mon guys…let’s get more than 15 cars there.

And because of the fact that there is a fair amount of prize money, we will be chassis dynoing cars during the weekend, and will also have a fairly in-depth examination of the other performance parts of the cars. I plan to have a brand-new front and rear Bilstein there for comparison.

And as always, my car can be anonymously requested and examined and/or chassis dynoed at anytime during the event. I’ll leave the keys in it and I’ll go have lunch.

I guess I need to start getting plans in order to go to that race. I really love that track. Any word on whether or not they will run it with the busstop?

Plus it will be a great equalizer against all those fast Mid-Atlantic region guys.

I’ve heard that each driver will have to earn enough points to attend. This won’t be a "show up and race" kind of event.

As soon as we get the details, we’ll post them here. And if anyone already knows the details, feel free to post them anytime.

I just found that there is a www.nasachampionships.com website. I just skimmed it but saw:

Requirements to participate in NASA Championships:

  1. The driver must earn points in at least five official races. You may run one or more classes to earn points.
NOTE: Once minimum qualifications are earned, drivers may compete in multiple classes at the National Championships.

  2. There must be at least four entries in a class at the Championships by the September 1, 2006 deadline.

Entries that don’t meet the above requirements will be returned promptly with a full refund.

Thanks Bruce.

I’m assuming that 5 races would be 5 actual races. That is, 2.5 race weekends if each weekend has two races.

I hope that is the case, considering there are only 7 race weekends in 2006 (SoCal, at least) prior to Mid-Ohio…

I think I’ve found transportation east for the event - a group called 7’s Only Racing is leaving from Buttonwillow Raceway heading east (and, I assume, back to CA after the event!). So don’t go spending the prize $ just yet!!! Whoo-hoo!!!

Considering how the first Mid Atlantic weekend went, it’ll be anyone’s race at Mid Ohio.

Although… I won my first race there, after three laps of qualifying and then "we’re racing." I also won my second race there co-driving in an E30 M3 J Stock car at an enduro.

For my third race there…we’ll see.
