Hey Ya’ll Spec E 30s,

Wanted to wish ya’ll a good season of lots a gifts, and missletoes with the ladies. Have yourselves a merry little Chrismas, and Happy Newer Racin’ year. Here is a brewsky for the SpecE30 upcomin’ seeson. I am hopin’ to be out on the assphalt this comin’ year, but ‘it’s been hard gettin’ the car in gear with my work and well, the ohter thing called partnership commitment. My partner is bein’ a pain in the ass complaini’ I am spendin’ to much time under the hood and under the wheel and not paying attenton to the relationship. Do anyone have suggestions on dealing with that… nagging issues? Any good tips are welcome… if this s*it continous I won’t be able to race anytime this century… Ya’ll have a good one…

Seriously, though – I completely understand the difficulty of the balancing act of prioritizing building a race car vs. the rest of your life. The best advice I can give you is to remember that, no matter how good a driver you are, and how good the racing is… it’s just for fun; if that fun comes at the expense of other, more serious parts of your life, then you need to take a breather.

On the other hand, a relationship is, as you put it, a partnership – I’m sure that there’s some things that your significant other likes to do, or spend their free time doing that you’re not exactly crazy about, but if you respect their choices, then they should respect yours.

I’m spending about 10 hours a week, building mine. Hey I’ve got the same issues, balancing work, wife, kids, etc, etc, etc. Only advice I have is when they start complaining, your ignoring me, kids, etc, etc. Stop, listen do something nice for her, take her to dinner and tell her you love her. My wife hardly complains about the time, but complains about the money I spend on it.
