I’ve camped there before, but that was a few years ago.
Mid Ohio April
If I make it I will be getting a room at the Days Inn for Fri & Sat nights. The costs for 2 nights is $126.26 if you reserve online 2 weeks ahead of time. The room has double beds. Max occupency is 4 so if anyone else likes the floor…
I think of hotel rooms as money I could spend on tires. When Stephanie comes along, I spring for the hotel; otherwise, I’m content on the trailer floor. Too bad that’s not an option at Putnam Park… I appreciate your offer and may take you up on that if camping is a no go.
I am pretty sure camping is allowed. Simon did the last time we were there in Aug. Usually all the SE30’s part in the grass right by the showers. Basically instead of turning left into the fenced in area, go straight and take a right just past ‘Lake Anthony’.
Camping is allowed as long as there is 24 hour security and i think at all the Mid-Ohio events that is the case. Do not tell the gate you are camping unless you want the possibility of paying for the privilege. Just pull in like normal and set up camp and don’t leave. I have never had an issue before.
Putnam does not allow camping as it was part of the agreement with County/City when they built the track. I think the local government was hoping that people would go to the local camp ground. In any event there is an ordinance against it at Putnam.

What Mike said, just drive in and setup your tent. Try not to snap the tent poles in the dark or you end up with a tent with an eazy up lowered over it :). I think I will be in a Hotel as Shannon is coming with, potentially no kids too.
On a totally different subject, Mike are you qualified to give annuals? I couldn’t bring myself to pay the $40, just figuring out if I have to tow the car somewhere before the event. I won’t be arriving until late Friday.
I rather pay Mike 40 then pay NASA anymore money. I’ll be at the track friday. Can we do the annuals there?
Gentleman,
Yes, I can do annual tech inspection. The problem is I don’t plan to be at Mid-Ohio until Friday evening. Not sure what time and it may be earlier then later. I would be glad to do the annual and there is no fee if I do it. I would ask that you download both the tech forms required and do it yourself prior to showing up at the track. Don’t want anyone to have to go home or buy a new harness at the track. Also, make sure those cotter pins are in the snap in harnesses and the harness is weaved correctly through the 3 bar weave thing. Just follow the sheet and all is good. If this will be the first annual for anyone let me know so I can make sure I have enough log books and bring my cage stamps.

I edited my post above, thats what I mean’t as well I’m not arriving till Friday evening. Will there be enough time to tech everyone Sat morning. This will be the first event for eveyone so we all need annuals.
Please show me where in the CCR is says that.[/quote]
Not sure if it says it in the CCR or not. On the tech form here:
http://www.nasaproracing.com/forms/annual_race_inspector.pdf
under harness it talks of safety clips. I asked Bryan about what that was and he said it was the cotter pin for the clip in harness hardware as shown here:

I was actually dinged on this at an annual somewhere either with NASA or BMWCCA. It may not be in the CCR but I would guess it is in the manufacturers instructions (or not?) The cotter pin goes in the part of the clip that moves and has the small hole.

I would be glad to do any and all annuals that I can. I hope to be at Mid-Ohio around 4 or 5pm. If someone will provide the beer and give me a ride back to the hotel I will stay as long as needed to do what needs done. I just have to make sure the MRS. is taken care of and can get to the hotel without me. My crew (Dad and Karen) should be with us also.
SO, chime in if this works for you so we can judge the work load.
Michael
I think my dad and I will be there around 6 or 7. It really just depends when he can get out of work on Friday.
I won’t be there on Friday for testing, but I will be practicing on iRacing. Mid Ohio is new to me, but I’ll be ready! Be scared…
I will be there on Friday running in the comp school.
Are we all parking in the field buy the showers?
Fast forward to May. I’m all signed up for Fri-Tue at Mid-O for Memorial Day. See ya’ll then.
