#1

Ok enough chat about the Club Race School who is actually going to be racing in April? We should be finally able to break 10 cars at an event I would think this year.

I’m signed up.

Welcome back, Simon! I just signed up

#3

so far three signed up. I have not yet but will as soon as I get that weeks travel plans figured out.

Why talking about that, I almost pulled a Kevin and scheduled a family vacation that would have spanned over the race weekend. The week before is my children’s and wife’s spring break. So we now have it planed to fly out of Columbus and return on the Friday before the event. Now I need to find a place to store my Trailer or my Van and Trailer why I fly out. Anyone have any suggestions of a safe place around Columbus?

Thanks,

Michael

I will definitely be there, and will have a totally rebuilt motor. No more excuses this year!

#5

I can’t absolutely gaurantee it yet but I certainly plan on this being my first race.

I still have to get the car ready, pass the Club Race School, and get my provisional by then. We’ll see fingerscrossed

Oh and, I think I already know the answer to this but is the Friday worth the $209? I am assuming that is the Test & Tune? I will have just been at Mid-O the week before as a first timer it’s not like I’ll be tuning to win. Shiny side up and finish is the goal for this one…

Cameron,

I saw some of the pictures on Facebook. Please don’t paint the block Pink!

Slightly OT, but how many races need to be completed to participate in nationals? I thought it was 6.

#8

Jamie, with the 3 days of the BMWCCA school the weekend before, I don’t think you’ll need the Friday test day.

Foglight, I think its 5, as in 3 weekends. But maybe Michael can confirm.

I was chatting with Jeremy about the number of races needed for Nationals. We believe it is 5. Also you may be able to get qualified for Nats in only two weekends. That is if, in one of those weekends, you run SE30 and one TT race in the same weekend. Michael, can you confirm? Could be a good way to go for those on a tight budget.

Looking forward to 2011!

I have signed up. Now I just need to pass the comp schools. Thankfully I know an instructor for the BMW event, but if I don’t pass that one I’ll blame my coach.

I’m taking the NASA school too.

Its 5 and yes you can do 1 TT to do it in 2 weekends. You can do it in 1 weekend if you include a Friday enduro.

Thanks for confirming Simon.

Here is the actual requirements:

  1. Eligibility
The requirements set forth below must be met in their entirety.
  1. Race class competitors must start and score points in five main races in a NASA
recognized class. Any number of races in any class and any region will qualify as
credit. Participation in Time Trial will be limited to a maximum of 2 credits
towards race class qualification. Endurance events less than 6 hours will count
as 1 race credit for the drivers of the team. Endurance races 6 hours or longer
    count as 2 credits.
  2. Drivers may participate in any racing class at the Championships, regardless of
which class(s) they run to qualify.
  3. Time Trial competitors must meet qualification criteria as set forth in the 2010 TT
    Rules Section 15.
  4. Once the above qualification requirements are met, a competitor may enter as
    many classes as they wish.
  5. Teams as outlined in the 2010 CCR Section 22.4 are eligible for this event, with
the exception of Sections 22.4.5, 22.5 and 22.6.
  6. Any driver that qualifies for the Championships as part of a team may enter any
class(s) as the original team or as an individual; however the team name shall
reflect the names of the drivers competing.
  7. NASA Management/Promoter reserves the right to invite competitors that do not
    fit within these guidelines.
  8. Each class must have at least 4 entries by midnight (PST), Wednesday,
September 1, 2010 in order to be defined as a “Championship Race”. Trophies
and/or prizes may not be awarded to classes that are not designated as such by
    the deadline.
  9. Those drivers that enter an undersubscribed class will be given notice and given
a full refund or offered the opportunity to compete in another class where their
    vehicle can be classified.

Colin, if the car is ready this year, come to the BMWCCA or NASA events in April. You can do the DE’s at those events while also getting to hang out with a lot of the Great Lakes SpecE30 contingent! And, as an added bonus… ME!

#16

Car most likely wont be ready, I run without full spec prep but i really need tires first. Also I wont have time/money due to FSAE comp. Hopefully after June I will make an appearance.

#17

I’ll be at Mid Ohio this weekend as well. Hopefully I can find my way around the track as I’ve never been there before…

#18

If you make it to China Beach, you need to turn around. You missed the right.

Recap - We have atleast verbal commitments from:

Simon
Anthony
Michael
Cameron
Jamie
Foglight
Rich
Me

2 more and we can break 10 for the first event of the year!

so far this is all that is signed up:

Simon Hunter
Dennis Barker
Anthony Magagnoli
Michael Osborne

So, get off the fence and sign up. As you all know NASA has a great refund policy and it seems that if you move your registration to another event when you have to cancel I have never been charged a fee.

I still need help storing the rig while on vacation. Any of you guys in Columbus help me out? I am willing to pay if need be.

Not sure but this feels alot like peer pressure

I need to make sure the car will be ready first. Lots of little nagging things to do. Once I get closer I will sign up.
