Look who's on the cover of GRM

#1

I was Christmas shopping at Barnes and Noble tonight and thumbing through the racing mags and I noticed the February issue of GRM is out at the newstand before I got mine at home.

I picked it up and in a life size picture on the cover is Carlton Goldthwaite in his green machine. I assume its an action shot from NASA nationals at Mid Ohio. Really cool picture and great publicity for SE30. Here is the pic from GRM’s website.

too cool!

That is sweet! I love the color of Carlton’s car. I would have to have a profession frame job done on that issue if I was Carlton.

#4

Fabulous!
Expect the number of donor cars to begin decreasing with PR like this. B)

Oh man,

someone’s gonna get a really good deal on Carlton’s old helmet when he has to buy a new one to fit his swollen head!!!

Congrats Carlton!!!

Bret.

Not only the cover shot - Spec E30 was the top story in their Editor’s Choice Awards of "20 Things that Rocked Our World in 2006"! Great shot of Carter and Steve K. I had to post it in our local NASA region forum to show up the 944 Spec folks that I’m competing with for new racers.

Great stuff.
cheers,
bruce

If that picture only showed another 1/4 mile down the straight I would have made the picture. :woohoo:

I showed my wife Carlton’s e30 on the cover and told her that was what I have been working on transforming the e30 thats in pieces in my garage to. She didn’t get too excited. But it got me excited.

#13

I’m really excited about this season. I finally got my nitrous installed but i’m still working out the kinks in my stand alone engine management :P. In all seriousness i’m pleased to see that everyone is starting to realize how much fun spec e30 is, and grassroots is really giving the whole series a positive image. I hope the series gets HUGE!

Obviously, GRM is excited about our little series. I was surprised to see that we’re listed first in the Editors’ Choice article. It is an honor to be included.

Yes, I’m more excited to race this year than at any time in my 14-year amateur racing career. While we will always have challenges, things are progressing well and we’re growing exactly as we prefer.

Congrats to Carter and All the SPec E30 racers. The GRM article is fantastic!

I am really lamenting selling the car now…

I’ll be back one day though.

Great coup getting the cover and the #1 story. Do you think Per had something to do with that?

I showed the cover to my wife when it came in. I told her "that’s what I’m wanting to build!" (I still haven’t found a car) She asked "are they all that color???" My reponse "I WISH, unforturnately some are black, silver or white"

#17

David, Tim and I worked out the list, but yea, we are a little jazzed about the series.

Now if only my nets would get here so I can get the mounting hardware set so I can paint the cage so I can mount the…

For sure, bright colored cars has helped gain attention.

To those building cars, have any of you chosen an interesting color/color combo?

My half-orange, half-black (with yellow accents) beast is coming. I’m hoping my Bronzit car will be transformed!
