Well since Robert asked me to post about new car I will. First big thanks to Jack at Elephant Motorsports he worked in the car till 2am and then drove through the night to get the car there for Saturday morning. Unfortunately it was cold and rainy all day Saturday and we still had to mount my seat. Honestly the weather was so crappy we decided we didn’t even want to get out the truck, plus we were both instructing. Finally on Sunday we got the seat in and I was able to run twice on Sunday. First impression, the car was a little more tail happy than my J-Stock M3 and had a little less straight line grunt. I haven’t weighed it but I’m guessing it was also 80 lbs under spec weight. The car was great right out of the box though and I was comfortable in my first session. About the car, I bought it for $1800 in Kentucky. It had a little more rust than we had hoped once we really started digging, but otherwise it is pretty solid. As you know I have had it painted, it is a Ford paint colour some metallic grey. I bought 4 sets of the Kazera wheels and they look great. I’ve run on Toyo’s before and they were as expected, great fun to drive on. We are running the original motor which has about 140000 miles on it. Seemed fine on the track no issues at all. Jack put some fancy Spa gauges in so I can tell you the highest the oil got was 209, it was cold this past weekend though. For the exhaust for now I’m running a $100 muffler shop special, cats are taken out but the rest is stock with some cheapo reasonators on the end. I’m hoping there will be a spec exhaust soon, otherwise we’ll put something a little better together but for now it is functional and for an M20 has a nice note to it. The cage was built by McMahon, not much to say there it is a really nice cage. So basically now we have to do some finishing up. Left to do

  1. kill switch
  2. transponder
  3. fire system
  4. put in welded sub frame
  5. weighed and ballast added
  6. window net
  7. right side net
  8. fix tranny leak
  9. replace drive shaft center bearing
  10. alignment
  11. graphics and decals

I think thats it can’t wait to race with you guys, I apologize to Mike Osborne for not making it to Mid Ohio. Carl Furmham was at the Putnam event as well and I checked out his spec e30 which is pratically finished. Hopefully we can get some interest drummed up in the Midwest, but we should have a great field for Nationals. I’m now planning for Putnam to be my first event but I’m still considering making the trek down to Road Atlanta and will definitely be at VIR next year. I’m sure Jack will put up the build once his site is back online, probably a couple more months.

We had an extra front subframe so we welded the reinforcements out of the car but it has not been installed yet.

I saw Michael yesterday at MO - his car looks good - I think it will be the only one with neon green flames on it! :stuck_out_tongue:

Simon, I’ll look for you at Putnam - I’ll be there running HPDE3.

Simon, thank you for the update.

I just finished reading Osborne’s post that discussed some great out-of-the-box lap times at Mid Ohio. I understand that you’ve got some talent at that track too. So, I’m thinking youse guys need to stay away from tracks in the south.

Seriously, Allen and Goldwaite showed the way around Road Atlanta last March. I’m thinking that they may make a return visit in August. Osborne may come down. It should be a good event as everyone will have had a chance to dial-in their cars.

Come see us.

Regards, Robert Patton

Hey Dave, no making fun of my car. I am glad to say that Dave does not look near as goofy in person as he does in his aviator.

The ITS E30 had green flames and my family forced me to put them on the new car. We expanded it a little and made if fun.

LOL, dollar beer night at a minor league baseball game - I guess the liability chasing lawyers haven’t reached that part of the country yet …
