Good morning!

Just wondering if anyone is running a 1984 body. If you are can you post some pictures?

TIA

I’ve got some 84 frame rail/parts in the front end of my car :frowning:

not sure that’s what you’re looking for… but I can post some pics if you want, when I get home tomorrow

there are a lot of things that you would have to add to bring an 84 up to spec so the effort would be questionable.

I have been around racing for awhile but just now getting into SpecE30 due to the cost at which to race the series. I’ve been through the rules a dozen time.

Bruce, just wondering why the 84 is so much work to get race ready? Could you explain in a little detail what makes it a lot of work. Any help is appreciated! I am trying to build an 84 from the ground up. So any insight would be great.

There is only one major difference if the 84 is a 325…the engine harness. You cannot plug in a “i” ECU to this harness, so you will have to do some wiring. Of course, the motor and diff will have to be changed, other than that, the cars, for all purposes, are identical. Note, since the 84 was the first year, the chassis is somewhat lighter than later models. Good luck, Chuck

Lack of ABS. Completely different wiring harness, which was changed for 86 so retrofitting would be a lot of work and basically undoable for most of us amateur wrenchers.

Most 325s came with ABS, even the early ones. Mine did not. However, if you learn to threashold brake without ABS you are better off. CB

And in SpecE30, a cheater.

I don’t believe any 325’s in 1984 had ABS (this was pre-ABS). Non ABS cars require different struts assemblies/spindles among other things already mentioned. Not worth the hassle. Find an 87+ is car.

Struts are identical to later cars, as long as it is a 325. The only difference was the hub in ABS cars had the ABS ring, as all replacement hubs do now. Everything else on the car, sans wiring, is I D E N T I C A L  cb

Minus the ABS sensors, computer, pump… Not worth it.
