Hello everyone!

My name is Miguel and I have been lurking about the forum off and on for about two years now. When I first started getting serious about my interests to get on the track I researched the different spec series as well as looked at chump and lemons. My cousin has a chumps/lemons team up in the DC area and they invited me up to race with them about a year and a half back. That was a lot of fun. A little too loose with the safety though.

The se30 series interested me the most but the economics of life pushed me into chumps. More seat time and I could share the expenses with a couple of buddies. Before long we bought our first e30, a real beater. Ended up spinning our wheels a lot. And the project was a still born… It quietly waits for something to happen.

Fast forward a little time and a really clean m30 e30 came up on craigslist. Still enamored with the platform I pick it up. Been driving it off and on over the last year.

Signed up for Nasa mid summer and by the first event of this year I was able to get out on the track (Homestead Motor Speedway). It was a great experience. I got to meet a few of the local se30 guys and gals (Shawn, Natalie, Carlos, Jay, Michael, and Don). Its good to see a tight group of friends enjoy the class together. Nasa paired me up with an e30 driver, Michael Strasser, as my instructor; which was awesome. It was great to have someone knowledgeable with the car in the car to show me around the track.

I am not rushing into w2w at the moment but when I do I am fairly certain it will be in a se30 so I wanted to say hello and get familiar with what the class is all about and enjoy the company. Maybe by next year I will be looking into the buy/build question. For now getting track time and building my familiarity with the car is my goal.

Regards,

Miguel

Welcome aboard Miguel. The beauty of SpecE30 is that everyone’s going to help you. One day someone’s giving you guidance on how to do a turn better, and the next day a guy who’s 2sec/lap slower than you, is helping you replace parts in the paddock.

THIS SHOULD REALLY BE A STICKY!!

Anything you try to do the car Ranger has probably done it several times to get it right. Therefore, before you ask questions, do a search on the subject and you should find enlightenment.

Especially if you are about to do something dumb. That makes it pretty much a certainty that I’ve done it.
