I like this kind of fix...

As many of you know, Carlton did some fairly minor off-track driving to avoid the spinning Mike Davidson on lap one of the National Championship race. After returning to the track, his car died and would run for a few seconds, and then die again.

After sitting in the shop since then, we decided to check it out. I think Sean suggested with look at the main and fuel pump relays.

We opened the hood, lifted the relay cover and immediately noticed that the relays were "popped up."

Carlton asked if I had done that. "Nope."

He pushed them both down, I reached in and turned the key, and you can guess what happened.

I’m tie-wrapping mine down before the next race weekend.

Carter

ps. Thanks Sean!

since I was facing the opposite direction on track, I didn’t see where carlton went off. Did he get airborn or something? That is really weird that they popped up. Good to hear you found out that nothing major happened. BTW that was probably the scariest 10 seconds behind the wheel I’ve experienced racing.

ps. Thanks Sean![/quote] Glad it was an easy fix. I do believe someone else suggested in a different thread to tie-wrap the relays down. They are friction fit by those very small tabs on the sides of the relays.

Undoubtedly there was no intent, but one can only imagine that one of the many hands that helped Carlton with the broken rocker arm may have left a relay lose. Stuff happens…and it is unfortunate that it occurred at the Nationals. Carter, Carlton, others, do you recall the end result of David’s problem(s)? Regards, Robert (should we talk about conspiracy theories) Patton P.S. did I tell you the one about dropping a bolt into an injector hole? How much time do you have???
