I am not a reckless shithead.

Jim talked to me today. He, and perhaps Tom, were given bad info on how fast I was going when I went behind the tower. Which explains why they were so pissed at me. And with the track management being mad, something had to be done in order to appease them, I suppose.

Richard, et. al. that run the track, are a nice bunch that will do anything for you. But if you cross them they will hunt you down and crush you like a bug.

Roebling being my home track, I can’t tell you how much I was looking forward to Saturday’s two races. Was hard to miss them. Now I’ll just have to humiliate you all at CMP.

Picture shows how fast I was going when I passed behind the tower. I may suck, but I suck carefully.

What exactly happened?

Track management got mad at me for going behind the tower. By the time the story made it’s way to Jim, it was in a version that had me going behind the tower at full speed. Which is what was stated at the driver’s meeting. Not his fault, that’s the story he got.

I ended up manning a flag tower for the rest of the day. Missed the sprint race and, the crown jewel of SpecE30, the IFU. Have flagged for lots of races, but flagging for DE’s is like watching paint dry.

In the great scheme of things, missing a couple of races is no big deal. However, having the entire NASA-SE racing community thinking that I’m a reckless shithead that would actually drive thru an admin area at 100mph, is a little rough.

Who has met these people? I didn’t see them this weekend.

Scott we don’t think you’re reckless…

Stop it Jimmy, you are killing me.

I met the beer nazi last year. I don’t think I would lump her into the nice group.

Nice bunch of A@# Holes! Tom had Rigby off the leash at 6 am and the woman went NUTS at him! Then of course all day we hear stories of her damn cats seen crossing the track!

Gasman is right, these folks are bad. I for one am calling my buddies that insure this track and asking them about the damn cats and the “customer service” attitude. Mad customers tend to look for reason to sue!

Scott, your a good man in our book. You just need to slow down, but only so I have a chance!

Scott, stuff happens and we all understand that there are two sides to every story. Three and four once they are blown out of porportion.

With your understanding of military protocal, it was good to see you back on track Sunday.

Regards, Robert Patton

I wasn’t real impressed with the RR Employee driving the tractor through the paddock at 30mph, after they told everyone to not exceed 5mph. Bouncing all over the place with cars and people all around him. He also rode all over the place in the cart skipping and dragging his foot on the ground behind him. I’m surprised he didn’t break an ankle. If you do that while working at Club Car or EZ-Go here in Augusta, you get fired on the spot.

Lets not create a public thread of complaints re. Roebling. That kind of thing can come back and haunt us.

In Ranger’s defense he did slow down enough to cross safely, but as he said we had to pass the punishment on. I commend Ranger on taking the punishment well, we actually amended the original punishment (banishment…) that was given to us to pass on to him as we felt that it would be better to compromise and use it as a lesson to others.

But to put it all in perspective, due to the accommodations at Roebling the race control, start and timing staff all have to park their cars there and/or walk thru that area to use the port-a-potty that is near the gate. If people start using that area as a track thorough fare then it could get ugly.

We are actually drafting a letter to the S**A Buccaneer Region, who owns the track, to point out the potential for disaster in the track’s safety design.

Re. Cats. You’re going to love this. While at turn 4 I briefly threw waving yellow during one of the races because a cat was crossing the track.

In view of my tragic removal from the '08 IFU2 I think that the next one ought to be called “IFU3: I am not a reckless shithead”.

I would have thrown the debris flag. That way people may not have slowed down and had a shot at moving the debris…

How was it decided which turn you were banished to? Turn four seems to be the least likely to see flag action.

I dunno why I was assigned to turn 4. I was thinking about misunderstanding my guidance and ending up at turn 3. Which is where Kristen, the cute flagger was.

Misunderstandings happen.
