How do you get the car up on jackstands

#1

I am trying to limit myself to only one newby question/day. No really.

So how do you get the car up on jackstands? I know of only the classic jackpoints on each side. But if I’m to put a jackstand there, then I have to jack the car up somewhere else. Or maybe I jack up the car using the classic jack point, and then put the jackstand somewhere else. In each case I need a "somewhere else" that is a safe place to support the car’s weight.

Where oh where might it be?

Scott, you can jack up from the frame rails directly, as well as from the diff (great for getting both rear wheels at once as long as your jack fits in there).

You probably know this, but the fram rails are set back about a foot from the edge of the car, and run from the front lollipops (control arm attachment points) to about the middle of the car.

Here’s a pic of a jack stand supporting the frame rail:

I use the frame rail as well - put the jack in right under the mirrors and you can jack up the whole side of the car at once. Don’t go too far back or you will be jacking on a floor pan.

I use either front or rear subframe to jack up the car
