With everyone talking about cool shirts and Hotlanta racing and such I thought I would share with those interested a hillbilly way of staying cool while on track. Someone mentioned this to me when I was having trouble with the heat at Barber about 4 years ago. I was coming off the track light headed and nauseated due to the extreme heat and even came in early one session as I was loosing focus. I would guess it is an old NASCAR trick but someone said to take a zip lock bag and fill with ice and put it under your suit on your chest. So I did. Man what a difference it made. I have since refined the system and purchased some tee shirts and cut one of the shirts up to make a pocket on the other shirts. I wear these shirts when I go out and just fill a quart zip lock with ice and stick it in the pocket. Another good thing is that when you are at impound you can then drink the melted ice. Keeping your core cool seems to work wonders for me. Give it a try and see if heat no longer becomes a big issue.
Good Luck,
Michael O.
