Hello, my name is Kevin and I'm addicted to E30s

#1

Ok, I haven’t even completed a comp school yet, and somehow I now have three (yeah, 3) E30s. One complete racecar (the red car I bought from Simon) ready for comp school in April at MidOhio, one racecar wanna be that just needs a cage, belts, and fire stuff, and as of yesterday, a daily driver (clean 1991 325is) that has already been spoken for by my friend Dan as a track/racecar once he sells his current track car (RX7). I let him drive the 8-Ball (our semi racecar E30) for one day at Putnam and he is officially hooked on the E30 chassis

And of course now the season is over until April and the withdrawal has already begun, good thing I bought that daily driver (screwy addict reasoning)

I blame this on you, Simon Hunter :stuck_out_tongue:

While the season might be over up in snow country, it is alive and doing well here in the South. NASA-SE has two events left in the season, then there’s the 13 hour Enduro at VIR, PBOC races at Barber in November, Winterfest…

There’s a comp school at CMP in a month. No reason to wait 6 months!

I only have 2 E30s. Unless you make me count the 2 other rolling chassis…

Hello Kevin!
My name is Scott and I too am addicted to e30’s. I only have one however…

I’ll second Steve D’s motion. Load that race-ready car and come on down to CMP
next month. We’ll be having the 3rd annual IFU that weekend and it promises to
be the Spec e30 Event of the year.

Welcome to the addiction

Kevin, you can come to Road Atlanta with us in December

#6

You got Dan over from the dark side!!! Well done, Sweeney!

And for the record, I have owned 5 e30s, though I only have one right now.

And a Road Atlanta trip sounds good. Anthony, I’ll email you about it.

#7

Glad I could help :)…Road Atlanta think about it.

Kevin, congratulations on the car.
Simon, congratulations on being recognized as a mentor.

To all in the midwest region, come on down to Road Atlanta for our December race.

Regards, Robert Patton

As much as I appreciate the outpouring of support, I will have to decline any offers to head south for another event before spring :frowning: We have a 2 month old and a 2 1/2 year old (I barely made it to Putnam alive) :S My wife is very understanding of the car addiction, but I don’t think I can convince her that I need another long weekend away to play.

Hmm, maybe we can roll it into a visit to her friend in Atlanta…doubt it.

Here’s how it’d done:
Kevin: Honey, you need a chick weekend.

Wife: Oh darling, you’d stay home with the kids while I go to the mountain spa with the girls?

Kevin: Sure thing hon.

Wife: You’re the best.

<After long dryspell Kevin finally gets some action that night. 2 weeks later wife is gone for the weekend and Kevin finally gets in a good solid weekend of work on the car. Pops into house every 4hrs to confirm kids not dead and feed same.>

Kevin: Now that you’ve back hon, can we talk about me going to CMP in early Nov? It’d mean a lot to me.

Wife: Sure dear, you go and have a good time with your friends. And tell Ranger I said hello.

And that is how it’s done.

That is exactly how it is done!

However, at our house with the kids gone it goes more like:

Kathy: Isn’t it about time for you to go to the track again? It has been a month since your last event.

Me: Well there’s a race weekend at CMP coming up in November. Why do you ask?

Kathy: You need to go to the track and hang out with those other car guys(gals). You are so easy to live with for a couple of weeks after being at the track.

I suppose that says something quite negative about the way I must be on a day to day basis. But as long as it gets me to the track at least once a month I don’t care and am I’m not going to change!

The wife gets a weekend alone, which she treasures and I get to go to the track, which I treasure. Until August her only worries were the trip to and from the track. But since RA I’m “required” to check in every evening to assure her that nothing bad happened. She saw the car, so that is completely understandable.

Hi, my name is Matt and I’m an E30 addict also. (This is step 1 right? I’ve admitted that I have a problem.)

I’ll blame it on my Dad after I drove one session in his SpecE30 at Thunderhill in Oct. '07. Now between he and my brother we have 4. Two spec cars, one daily driver and one parts car. And another smashed chassis was just hauled to the scrap yard after a roll at T-Hill this spring.

I’ve also infected 3 friends who have 4 more E30’s among them.

Oh well, I guess it’s better than other addictions, but probably not any cheaper.

High performance driving, racing, or E30’s is as addictive as cocaine. Unfortunately, it is a tad more expensive (though more socially acceptable).
