Hawk to fix rear HT-10 design

#1

I finally got around to sending Hawk an email about the lack of piston clips on their rear E30 pads (shape 399) and how it’s leading to rattles at most speeds.

Here was the response (the next day):
I researched this application and found that you are correct; the inner pads
should have a three pronged piston clip to secure them into the piston.

I am not sure how this was overlooked when the product was launched but
thank you for bringing it to our attention. We sell this shape mainly into
motor sports and this is the first feedback we have had concerning the fit.
I’ve had the same issue with mine since I installed them. The pads click as they slide around in the caliper at lower speeds. I just learned to ignore it assuming it is harmess but if Hawk will add the retaining clips to the pads it would be nice not to hear that click, click, click…

on my e30 M3, I have had Hawk HP+ pads on the rear (with Blues or HT-10s on front) for a couple of years (probably 4 - 5 races, many track days) and can’t get them to wear out. So, I question whether you would get HT-10s up to temperature back there.
cheers,

On my Spec E30 Hawk HPS pads in the rear last an entire season. Hawk DTC-60’s up front are way better than the 10’s and as good or better than the blues without the corrosive dust.
