Going Spec E30 racing!

#1

My name is Joe Harrison. I am crew chief for Action Racing. The team owner/driver is Mike Akard. We compete in D-mod BMWCCA. In fact we just won 2nd National Championship title, at Roebling on Dec. 14th 2008. Mike also won title in 2006. Well now its my turn. I am in process of purchasing E-30 race ready car from an active E30 racer. Also am on fast track through licensing process. Ihope to compete in NASA as well as newly created Spec E-30 class, in BMWCCA events. Looking forward to getting to know you guys. I frequent Bimmer forums, as well as GRM magazine forums.
Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I have been competing in non-sanctioned road racing for years. Time to go legit. No more high speed chases, tickets, court dates, traffic court attornies, etc. LOL. You can view our in car cam footage from feature event at Roebling. We sat on overall pole, set new track record [fastest lap], and led every overall lap, beating C-mod 2nd place by 19.15 seconds. Just go to www.actionracing.org. Scroll to bottom, click on [Here] for Savannah race.
P.S.,thats me in BMW X-6 pace car. It belongs to Big Mike Akard. Thank you, [CRAZY] Joe Harrison

welcome joe… i remember you from the famous thread on bf.c
what’s this fast track licensing process you speak of?

#3

Hey Joe welcome. I was at Roebling with Brendan Digel the B-Mod national champ!

Welcome Joe. Just don’t bring Akard with you! J/K And no flared fenders allowed in Spec e30 (fendergate):stuck_out_tongue:

going thru scca, then thru bmwwcca. nothing special, just submitting paperwork, attending licensing school, etc. congrats on b-mod title. they are hard to come by.

Dont worry, he has bigger fish to fry, what with all that free stuff! Hopefully some will trickle down to me. Gotta love those fenders!

Yeah unfortunately there isn’t as much competition as there is in Dmod, especially on Sunday! Glad to see you guys got the clutch put back together too!

**Full disclosure I only finished fourth in Bmod points ahead of Mike Skeen who was fifth. Brendan is the champ beating a few high dollar cars in his 79 E12.

The rumors of Mike’s “size” have always circulated, but how the hell does that man get in and out of an E-30. Good lord.

Its like stuffing a basketball into a volleyball. We use lots of bacon grease, 2 shovels, and some yoga positions. “Forward racing dog”, mainly. :woohoo:
You oughta see him pry his ass into a booth at Texas Roadhouse.

Mike Skeen seems to be the man to beat in spec 30 class. what sanctions do you campaign in? I plan on running as many bmw cca events as possible, mainly so i can sponge off
Akard. Plus he makes me earn my keep, pretending to be his crew chief. I just like bossing my crew around. They all work for me, or Mike, in our respective businesses.
Hes too big to argue with. Plus, my sister seems to be quite fond of him. The clutches were in car by 8;30 that nite. With no seating clutches at all, Mike won pole. I dont know how well you know Mike, but he is the real deal. Integrity, honesty, and a heart of gold. But we all know that “Ricky” Bobby Bitterman is the wizard behind Akards racing success!
