Huh? The main character was a Marine, wasn’t he a good guy? My take on it was they were trying to depict humans as the evil ones…not Marines. I loved the story line, the creativity, and the special effects but the subtleties and refereces to destruction of the planet made me a little sick. Who would have thought political correctness would ever make its way to Hollywood. ;)[/quote]
That’s fair, but I’m not very reasonable on this issue. In 200+ years two forces for good have accomplished more for humanity then perhaps any other single factor in human history. At least in terms of doing it in only 2 centuries…
#2. The US Military, as a tool of US foreign policy. Not always a perfect foreign policy, but the measuring stick needs to be other contries, not a romance novel.
#1. The Market Economy. Ah, that which still remains, anyhow. It is responsible for getting us out of mudhuts, even if most folks seem hellbent on putting us back in them.
Hollywood delights in slamming both the military and the Market because they’re a bunch of Lefties. Can’t be helped. Some folks grow out of that, but some were so thoroughly indoctrinated as youngsters that they never do. My wife grew up in an academic household. Her father was a history prof and then president of Yale. She’ll always be a Lefty.
The hot chicks are all Lefties.
