For those not attending nationals Sept 11-13

For those who cant make it to Utah and want to do another event. We are going to attend the Pro-IT Race at NJMP. This is an SCCA sanctioned event in support of ARCA/Remax Series and VW TDI CUP. There will be 3 30 minute practice/qualifying sessions on Friday, 20 minute practice/45 minute race Saturday, and a 45 minute race on Sunday. There is a cash payout! More info can be found here:
http://www.proitseries.com/

SCCA will except your NASA License, you will just have to get a logbook which can be done beforehand or at the track.

The South Jersey region and the Pro-IT group is excited about having us attend the event. They are very accomadating and happy to make it a great experience for everyone. I know the officials involved and can help with any questions or problems.

The cost is $400.00.

Should be a very entertaining event between the racing and the ARCA/TDI Cup races. Hope some of you guys can make it out.

I will follow up this post with registration info once it has opened up for registration.

Just a quick note on this, you do not need an SCCA membership. You only need to purchase a weekend membership which is just $15.00. you also get 4 crew passes. here is who we have so far:

Jon Allen
Andrew Zimmermann
Sean Curran
Joe Mcgrath

Were working on some others, let me know if you plan to attend.

I’ve done 2 pro-it races so far this year and will definitely be going to this one too. 200 minutes of track time, plus as a support race for arca and tdi cup, there should be a decent amount of spectators which is always fun. And like Andrew said, you get paid

The events are real fun and Thunderbolt is an awesome track. There’s usually a MA event the same weekend the NE is there, so this is an easy chance for you guys to run there without missing a home race. Has some good high speed corners as well as some slower “how the hell do I get through that fast” corners.

Getting the logbook was the only thing that took some effort and even that was pretty easy, the scca has a ton of tech guys all over the place and are easy to get a hold of.

If you are going to go (which you should if you’ll be around), register early once it is open. It will probably fill up quick because it is such a big weekend.

Sounds like a event that i will have to go to. Count me in for now, just have to check the schedule.

How many spec e30 cars do we have to get together so that we can have our own class? And or what class do our cars fit into?

Peter bring all the Axis guys, its going to be a lot of fun. Our cars fit into ITS but they will give us our own group if we get enough cars. I am checking into it…

Gonna be there. Hopefully will have a different oil pan by then as I hear it’s got nasty sweeper.

Sounds like its gonna be a good time.

Registration is not open yet however you must go to:

http://dlbracing.com/

and create an account before you can register. Once you have created your account you will be able to register. When it asks for a SCCA Member # just put “temp” or “999999”. The temporary weekend pass will be taken care of when you register at the track.

Registration is now open for the Pro-it. Follow the link below to sign up and register.

nice, just signed up.
It’s going to fill up fast, so don’t wait if you’re planning on going.

Just to Clarify you dont need to get a logbook ahead of time. They will issue one at the track. Its about half full at this time and filling fast. Hit me up with any questions. So far here is what we have;

Sean Curran
Jon Allen
Andrew Z
Joe McGrath
Mike Davidson?
Axis guys?

I am considering it but I will not be racing on Sunday since I have a triathlon. The finish time on Saturday makes it very compelling… I just would have to “finish” the triathlon rather than do my best…

Do it, even with skipping Sunday, you get a good amount of track time. Have you had the chance to drive Thunderbolt yet?

There is about 15 slots left right now. If you intend to come please dont hesitate. Drive-gear.com has one rental left for this event so if anyone wants to do an arrive and drive please let me know.

Only 6 spots left.

very muddy and wet NJMP, Jon Allen puts the #87 Drive-gear.com Spec E30 (in Spec e30 trim) 3rd in overall qualifying for the Sunday feature race. over 50 entries including ITR, ITS, ITA, ITB, SM, etc

Very cool! Speaks well for the Spec E30 crowd and good luck to everyone.

Let us know how everyone finishes.

I’ll be driving in NE region next year and am deciding what class/car to drive. Pro-IT looks to be a great series to run in and I’ve some discussions with a few guys up there already about it but not about SE30 because there’s like 2 cars or something.

So Jon Allen qualified 3 in an SE30 trim car in ITS against the 2nd Gen RX-7s and E36s at NJ? If so, that is very impressive. Here in Norcal there is a very competitive E30 in ITS built and driven by Doug Nakashima but it is nowhere near SE30 trim.

You moving east? whereabouts? Yes he qualified third in full spec e30 trim, was on new set of shaved R888’s. It was wet however and the tire combination was right. Quick race report:

Sat-Jon A started 43rd in a field of 50 and moved up quickly through the field. Ended up Third overall and 2nd in ITS. Was a wet moving into dry race.

Sun- Jon A started 3 overall, 2nd in ITS. Was a dry race and the higher horsepower ITS cars had a real advantage here. He could keep up through the turns but not in the straights. Ended up 4th in ITS(not sure about overall) still a very respectable finish considering the competition was strong.
