I’m putting a new clutch in the car and I’m reading about the need to resurface the flywheel. Is this common? I’ve changed several clutches and never resurfaced the flywheel.
What is the consensus on this?
Thanks for any input,
Jason

When I put a different trans in my car I put in a new clutch, and throw out bearing. I had my flywheel resurfaced. I figured everything was new and I want the clutch to last as long as possible. The $35 I spent to have it done is cheap insurance considering the amount of work it is to get the trans in and out of the car. If there was no problem with the previous clutch, you could probably get away with not doing it. If you do it, remember you are supposed to buy new flywheel bolts to reinstall it, again cheap insurance.

I was part of the previous discussion. I got my flywheel resurfaced, and I feel it is always worth it when installing a new clutch.
