February 9-10: Infineon Raceway

#1

I have started this thread so we may plan and organize for the event. Lets see how many we will have for the race. I will be there if I can get a logbook for the car by then…I cannot wait for my first wheel to wheel race!  :S :woohoo:   . I think Steves idea about us all pitting together is a great idea, lets make it happen…

I plan on being there in HPDE4, hopefully in Steve’s old car (now known as my new car!). In the next 2 weeks I need to find a seat that’ll fit me, find a stock exhaust with cats to pass smog, and see if I can get the car “street legal”.

Hey guys…thanks Brenden for starting this topic early so we can get organized for the event. I’m planning on racing too in my new E30! After a year off of racing I’m itching to get back into the mix. As far as who’s racing this event it looks like we’re going to have at least 5 racers:

Yourself, AJ Goldsmith, Ron Harness, Kevin Borchers, and me.

Steve Krshul was looking to rent a car from Walter…don’t know the status of that yet. Also, there’s a guy who works at AIM tire who is building a car and I don’t know if he will be ready for this event. I’ve met him but can’t recall his name.

Let’s try to grab paddock space to pit together…depending on who’s renting the track on Friday NASA racers may not be allowed to set up paddock space until after 5PM on Friday.

Steve has asked me to be the SpecE30 Race Chair for this first event which I accepted. We as a group should discuss how we’d like to start the race, a flying start or a standing start. I’m thinking since we have some rookies maybe a flying start would be good for this first event…but that’s up for discussion still!

Cheers,
Scott Neville

Adam,

Check with Walter on the stock exhaust set up. I have a twin tube muffler set up (from the cat back) that came with my donor car sitting at Walter’s shop that I will sell to you cheap. It’s nearly brand new…I’d like to get $75 for it which I think is half of what Walter said it is worth…?

Cheers,
Scott Neville

I thought they already decided to kill the clutches in our cars  ? I would be up for either, I think a standing start could be lots of fun… Friday is a test day, so I don’t know what that means for getting into the paddock…If I can rob a bank, I am going to try and make it up for the test day…:woohoo: .

This is a link to a memo from Jerry Kunzman for all NorCal racers…rookies should read this over as it gives good advice for your first race event:

I talked to Ron at AIM Tire today about getting Toyo Tire and AIM Tire decals for our cars. AIM Tire will have a trailer set up near the driver’s lounge and if you need Toyo Tire decals and AIM Tire decals this will be the place to get them. Check with Walter Ford about getting Valley Motorwerks decals.

Cheers,
Scott

I talked to Steve Krshul…I had forgotten he had already worked out with our Group A race director that NorCal SpecE30s would be doing standing starts this year…so we’ll be doing a standing start…standing starts are fun!

We can paddock together like we did all last year. Steve usually cones it off, so we’ll need a new designated coner. I might be the closest home to track and would be willing to get here at oh dark thirty or even cruise up on Friday night. I don’t have any cones tho, so if someone has some let’s hook up.

Great deal on that exhaust Scott, you’re a good guy.

#10

I will also be coming up on Friday evening, and I don’t have cones either…

#11

Swung by valley motorwerks today and picked up the exhaust Scott. Thanks! Walter should have cash for you

Nice, off to the smog shop huh?
Are you in for the 9th and 10th?
We will be trying to paddock together but Infineon gets rather crowded.
We allways end up near the rear of the tower on the grandstands.
Our crew at Ten Tenths Motorsports will be arriving early saturday. I hope to join you guys in the race on saturday and Adam I will be in group 4 for sunday so far if I can’t line up a rental. I am jonesing bad and the evo is headed to the cage builder in a few weeks. We won’t do any testing until late february.

Yeah, I’m not looking forward to smog, but am optomistic that it’ll pass  I’ll be there in HPDE4, hopefully in the spec e30.

#15

Make sure to get it really hot when you bring it in for the smog…

Usually the central part of the paddock off the end of the AIM/classroom building has some space too and may fit the group or at least we can get in the same general area. I got my logbook yesterday, and am signed up for the race. See you guys in a couple weeks.

#17

I’m signed up for the weekend but my tech is not complete. My seat was out of date and a few other small things that they will review at the track on the 9th. I’ve already fixed everything so I shouldn’t have any problem, except finding the tech guys early.

I live close enough that I’ll sleep at home Sat nite. Do you guys drag your cars home on Sat or leave them at the track overnight ??
