I created a fb page for us. https://www.facebook.com/groups/SpecE30/
The fb SpecE30 page that already existed was an “Interest” page and not a “Group” page, and therefore didn’t allow people to post anything. This one is more like what the FL folks did, but it’s not region specific.
Ranger, where is the preferred discussion area for existing racers? I don’t care to browse and post the same stuff in 2 different venues. Take the Spec3 proposal for example. Maybe we shouldn’t make our internal debates public and keep it more to the forum. Use FB for info sharing and discussions with people interested but not yet active?
What is your image?
The charm of the forum is that it organizes things well and info is there for all time. So anything technical and/or of lasting value would have it’s best home here.
fb, the whole stupid thing, is perfect for posts of zero lasting value. I feel strongly that most of our discussions do indeed have lasting value. I’ve read every post in this forum, all 6-7yrs of them. There’s great stuff in the older posts.
There’s also the issue of auto notification. People who like being notified of every post will like that aspect of fb. People who don’t want to receive emails re. each post and instead just want to hit the website occasionally, will stay away from fb.
I don’t really have a plan or any over-arching vision. People are different and like to do things in different ways. I figured that creating the SpecE30 fb page would be in synch with some folks info preferences. And those of their teenage daughters.
