E30 clutch, catback exh., sunroof panel and more!

I bought a wrecked E30 last Summer, shortly after building and selling a Spec E30 racer. I have decided to sell off everything, rather than warehouse it anymore…I’m running out of space!!

I had the motor/trans. listed in the Classifieds this Summer with NO takers and some discussion board members advised that I create a post in the forums rather than depend on the Classifieds, so here goes:

I have a COMPLETE motor, running when removed, on a stand in my garage, awaiting a leak down test to assess condition…just have to get off my lazy duff and do it. Motor is complete from MAF to exhaust manifold, alternator/starter/F.I./oil cooler & lines included.

I also have a 5 spd. transmission from the same car. P.O. says transmission worked fine. Survey says these are tough gear boxes and while I can guarantee it’s in good working condition, I cannot guarantee the longevity with track use.

If you are planning to upgrade to the Spec E30 exhaust, I have a set of down pipes in PERFECT condition, with O2 sensor/harness…just trim to the length needed and clamp 'em up to the new exhaust system. Bellows on the front pipe are not corroded/rusted or cracked.

When I separated the transmission from the motor last week, what the P.O. told me about the clutch rang true - it is a NEW unit, with about a month’s use on it per P.O. I removed it and it does appear in new condition with very little wear on the disc…so I’ll give you a deal on it when compared to new prices.

The driveshaft in the car had been reconditioned a few years back. It is in great condition with new U-joints, a “fresh” balance and is inscribed/stamped by the reconditioning facility with the date serviced, I will list the date later as I cannot recall at the moment. I would install new Guibos before track use, no matter what. P.O. says he would send me the receipts to the car, one of them being for the driveshaft, I never pursued his offer.

Last item of value is a new factory cat-back exhaust system. This unit is still painted in flat black by the manufacturer and has the labels still on the muffler can. P.O. says it was replaced when the clutch was…so it appears it was in use for about a month. For some reason the pipes were cut just aft of the catalytic converter, and just forward of it as the P.O. sold the converter to someone at a shop…could’ve just unbolted the damn thing!! Anyway, I have another exhaust system that I cut off the front section to use with this system…just weld together and you have a new exhaust system for your street E30.

I will take any reasonable offer on these items. I just want to clear out the clutter in my garage and shop area…moving in a new project. :woohoo:

I also have some items left over from the Spec E30 build last Spring…a sunroof panel in great cond., seats, door panels (4dr.), radiator fan shroud, misc. buttons/switches, etc.

I will be at the remaining NASA Mid-Atlantic events this year (both at Summit Point) and will be happy to bring any of these items to the track for delivery.

You can email me at jefcATmindspringDOTcom (replace AT and DOT with applicable characters) or call me at 757.286.5857 - I work evenings so call as late as Midnight but no earlier than 9am please.

I am looking for a rust free, bend free rear subframe with trailing arms.I live in the land of winter salting so I can’t get parts here.
Thanks

Sorry Paul, that’s one of the few items from “underneath” I didn’t remove - didn’t think it was worth the time to pull and it’s possible it might have been bent as the car was hit right rear quarter, pretty good.

DRIVESHAFT HAS BEEN SOLD…will be delivered to it’s proud new owner at Summit Point this weekend! :cheer:

A couple of items I neglected to mention is that I have two front strut/spring/wheel carrier setups. This is a pair off the aforementioned vehicle, a 1989 325i. The wheel bearings/hubs look to be in good shape and the strut housings are what you need to do a Spec E30 suspension conversion…again, units are COMPLETE with wheel carrier/bearing, strut, spring and tophat.

I believe I have a pair of CV axles from another car I “borrowed” parts off of last Spring. Clean 'em up and reboot them…will be good to go…will have to find them in the mess.

I also have a 9 button clock/computer in working/decent condition.

Thanks for the emails, keep 'em coming…I’d like to find a home for this motor THIS WEEKEND, if possible…I have another motor from another of my many projects to put on the stand. By the way, I meant to include the mileage of the vehicle the motor/trans. is out of - the odometer said 166,783 per my notes.

Just an FYI, someone suggested I bring items like the transmission and clutch package to the track with me this weekend - due to the ease of transport, etc.

So, just to let you know in case you’re interested in a good working E30 5spd. or a clutch in “like new” condition, I’ll have it with me at Summit this weekend.

I have sold the driveshaft and the transmission.

Still have the motor and still have yet to perform a leakdown test on it.

Help me empty out my shop/garage!!

The motor has been SOLD!

Excellent, I have more room to squeeze in other projects now.

FWIW, I still have a “like new” clutch, a pair of front struts (factory/stock) with wheel bearings/hubs on them, a factory sunroof panel and door panels (beige) from a fo-dough.

I also have the cat-back exhaust, in ‘like new’ condition with the exception of the 1st 8" cut from it - I have another good section I will toss in with the deal if you are interested in getting it welded up.

There are some other items, but I haven’t gotten that far back into my shed…more later.

Thanks for the emails/questions guys, appreciate it.

Hi Jeff,

I just picked up an '87 325e to replace the bronzit “is” I took through the tires @ VIR last month. It’s red. They don’t seem to crash as often as Bronzit, do they? I’m thinking that I should probably replace the clutch prophyllacticaly (sp?) while the engine & tranny are out, & wanted to ask you about a mod to the oil pan you suggested. Give me a call when you can @ (804) 363-5546.

Thanks,

Stuart
