Tuesday wouldn’t be good for me since both my kids start soccer practice at the same time and my wife and I will be with one or the other. Wednesday could work, but in general weekends would be better for me, if possible. If I do a weekday it would have to be late afternoon, say around 5-ish, so I could cut out of work early to make it down to Raleigh (as long as it’s not raining, since I have nothing but basically bald R-compounds on my car and no trailer).

If you go by Haywoods Customs on Chapel Hill Rd (RALEIGH), near the fairgrounds, Tell 'em FORREST says hey (with the yellow e30), I have been over there at least 6 or 7 times trying to get my car right…and it is good now…I will see you guys at the next race! I am signed up to instruct at Roebling in 4 weeks…
Peace,
~F

Yep, Heywoods is the plan…but it is raining today…Guys my # is 252 437 1167, I need to have a couple of things scheduled in Raleigh for this to work. Most of the stuff I have this week involves moving other cars to Greensboror and Raleigh…Hmm…I am going to call Haywoods this morning and see what their schedule is like.

I can do it Weds. afternoon. The dyno is so close to my house I’m tempted to drive it there instead of loading it on the trailer. :woohoo:

I’ll come along (and I’m driving the car from Durham to Haywoods). (It’s here, right?)

Al, I called the World Headquarters, but just got the receptionist. I just need to know when, how much and if you can bring the downpipes. (I’ll be doing a before and after dyno comparison on the stock exhaust.)

Home tel# is in my profile.

Gents,

Wll you please post your results? If not post, share with some of us rookies via e-mail…I want to have some idea if my car is anywhere near a competitive car power wise.

I have no problems posting the results (before and after the exhaust swap).

For reference, some dyno data is already available, here.

Ken,

Al and I are going to be at Haywood’s sometime around 3:00/3:30. It’s $70 for 3 pulls.

I wish I could join you this afternoon, but work calls. My wife is beginning to believe I’m going racing with a bunch of guys who are independently wealthy and free all day!:stuck_out_tongue: Unfortunately she doesn’t give me any credit for my restraint and self-control: would I rather be at work at 3:30 or watching my car at 6,500 RPM on a dyno?!

…But there is no joy in Smith-ville — the park brake won’t come out.

Went out to drive the Coupe to the dyno shop… but the left-rear won’t budge and the brake lights are stuck on. First time I’ve tried to drive the car in two weeks.

Ken and Al did get dyno’d, though. And the 6er got some exercise.

Just got back from the dyno with Dan and Al. I was a little disappointed in my numbers considering my mods…schrick cams, intake, header, 28# injectors and ported/polished head. I only managed to pull down 189 hp and 182 torque.

But seriously my 121k mile well maintained engine pulled 147 rwhp and 146 torque in the second of three pulls on the Dynojet at Haywoods. I no longer have the cats on the car but have a custom muffler/resonator setup. I doubt that helps any. The guy running the dyno said it looked like my car is running a little lean. I had planned on having my injectors sent of to be cleaned. Maybe this will help a little. If not maybe its time for a new oem fuel pressure regulator. Anyway, I was pleased with the numbers as it is.

Now its time to work on the driver.

Ken, those numbers look pretty decent. Cruzin performance.com can do your injectors for you for about 12.00 each. It made a big difference on my old car. YMMV though…I have an extra set, actually cobetto has them, that I have offered to any of the E30 guys to send out so the car is not down during the swap out…If we pass them around, everyone can get a set flow tested and the poor guy with the bad one has to find a replacement…I actually have an extra, extra clean set with less than 1000 miles on them…Measure the Fuel Pressure before you get a new FPR…if you remove the vacuum line to the FPR AND your fuel pump is good, you should get 43 PSI

Sean, thanks for the advice. What kind of pressure gauge would I use to test the fuel pressure? I have scheduled a slot to send my injectors to Cruzin already. They said they would turn them around in 2 days or less. Thanks for the offer on the loaner injectors but I can manage with my car sitting for a week or so. Is there anything else that you would recommend doing while I’m in there pulling the injectors?

Fuel hoses.
