Comp schools later this year

#1

There is a Driving Concepts school in Aug at Willow Springs and another at ButtonWillow in Oct. I have planned on doing HPDE3/4 until the Oct school. Is anyone else SpecE30 in Norcal/Socal planning on one of these? Just curious to see who else might be there.

Thanks for the heads up, Age. If my work schedule allows, I’d like to do the comp school in October. I live in SoCal.

#3

I hate to say I’m signing up for the school, everytime I register they cancel :S

I’ll just keep trying, but Willow in August

#4

I wonder if they will go with one of them instead of running both. I’ll bet it’s best to stick with August in case it cancels they’ll roll it to Oct maybe, if they have enough students.

Anyone planning on the BMW driving school at Infineon in Nov? Instruction at those events is first rate, I’ve done several.

Once I get some updated health documents(physical etc…) I’ll be applying for a Novice Permit for a regional license…And I’m hoping to do Driving Concepts Competition school in October, then all I need are two Regional Races and I’ll have my competition license!!! My SpecE30 WILL be ready by January :). Now all I need is an E30…

those sound like SCCA comp license requirements - the CCR shows the need for 4 races under your provisional license status, and you’re a "rookie" for the first 8 races.
Anyway, glad you’re going to get out there!
cheers,
bruce

Spiff, Alex J says hi… will you be racing in SoCal or NorCal?

#8

I contacted Driving Concepts abt whether the Oct class is going to happen - Judy said it will if they have enough students. NASA is also there that weekend.

Since I’ve not driving BW before I am interested in an HPDE before the school, but looks like DC HPDE on 10/2 is in doubt, just fyi. Something about a down payment…

If you’re planning on going or even thinking about it, let’s get signed up before she gives the date up. There’s enough of us here that maybe it will force it to happen, plus be a blast with a bunch of E30s.

Cheers,
-Age

Sounds good. I’m going to Sweden and will be back mid-august, after I film a wedding on the 18th, I’ll use that money to purchase my spot in the event. So I’ll probably order my place for the Comp School right around August 20th.

VMwerks, tell Alex I say whats up, he is never online anymore, tell him to get on that so I discuss with him my possible E30.

If I race SpecE30, or at all, I will be doing both if possible, I know there isn’t enough in SoCal so maybe I’ll try and make it up to NorCal as much as possible, we shall see. Right now I still need a bit more $ to make SpecE30 possible, and have a DD for college.

Cool Spiff, that’s 2 of us. Others?

O also, this isn’t specE30 related, but I have another friend who is dying to do a HPDE so I think I have 1 more also(audi S3).

#13

I’m now official for 10/13. Hope we can get a few more guys there. Will be bugging y’all at Thunderhill this month

#14

Darn, my car won’t be ready by then, I don’t think…Your car has to be legal correct? Does anyone know about any schools in the very beginning of next season?

#15

Hey B - It doesn’t have to be legal - street cars are fine.

I think Nasa and SCCA both one in early spring around Feb/Mar, and Driving Concepts schedule will be posted on their web site.

Cheers,
-AJ

So your car doesn’t need a log book? I thought that your car had to at least be a race car safety wise…If thats not the case, I am seriously considering it…

#17

hi.
as AJ said you can bring your street car (still needs to pass standard safety inspection - same as for any HPDE). If in doubt talk to Judy from Driv Conc. (she will know better then any of us… )

If this is the case, I will definitely sign up, and my friend that is also planning on racing next year will also…I hope this is the case. I will call tomorrow morning…I will et you all know what I hear…

Hey guys - I’m still on the fence as to what I’ll be racing next year. My car could be returned to spec in a weekend pretty easily, and if it looks like we will be able to field good sized grids next year I may go that route. However, I also may trade-up for a e36 M3 IP car if not. I can tell you which of those options my bank account would prefer :frowning: . Hope to see some of you at Willow this weekend! Chris - is the spec car done?

Steve, Come play with us in the e30…don’t go to the dark side…:stuck_out_tongue:

I spoke to Judy today, and she confirmed that you don’t need a "race," car, so I will be there in Oct. She said it was a go for sure, she already has 10-12 signed up. I will see if my friend that has a e30 can come and join us. Should be a fun time.
